Just re-signed with the Bulls. Four years, $100 million.

Giddey played well for the Bulls last season, but it makes you wonder what the Bulls' long term strategy is....if they have one.

He wanted 30 per, they were offering 22, this is a compromise. Even if the flaws in his game make them want to get rid of him in the future he can get big numbers with minutes and the ball in his hands to attract a trade partner so this shouldn't go too badly for them.

Reasonable. I would rather Giddey at 4yr $100M than Suggs at 5yr $150M.

I think for once teams are learning from that stupid deal. They're understanding that paying early and bidding against yourself is stupid.

Kuminga would be an ok value at that same number, maybe 3 years $75M instead, but the Warriors are in luxury tax purgatory and can't even afford that.

Kuminga can’t pass, rebound, space the floor, shoot free throws, and the only area he is “good at” is one dimensional iso scoring, which he does at below league average.

Trust me I was a kuminga homer for way too long.

He blows.

I honestly don't buy the hype either. I see Kuminga as somewhere between Oubre and Miles Bridges. Both guys who can put up 20 points a night with enough shots, but you aren't winning anything with them.

That said, the reality of the NBA is it's a suckers league , so, someone will give him that money if he doesn't get injured or implode first.

I think 3/$75 is just the right amount of shorter term risk that would be tradable.

What? Lol Teams overpay and will always continue too. This deal is not some turning of the corner.

Suggs is a two way player on a good team. Giddey put up big numbers on a crappy team

It's not just Giddey, it's not a coincidence that all RFAs have been put on ice months into free agency. Teams understood that the 1 team in the market with cap space, Nets, had no interest in these player's asking price.

I’ll see you next summer so we can see how teams no longer overpay free agents. Because they understood the assignment finally this summer….

Definitely something to monitor moving forward:
A) How many teams extend in year 3 versus year 4
B) How many teams have a player resign once the market dries up?

You either sign in year 3 for a discount or not at all is the rule of thumb. Like please tell me, what did Orlando think? That Suggs was going to play his way into an even richer deal if they didn't hurry up to run out and extend in year 3? Stupid. He was not in some max player trajectory. They saved no money signing him earlier than needed
