Don't think of this question with respect to any particular players, but conceptually speaking, which would be more embarrassing?

Loser to Larry Bird multiple times with a team full of nobodies?

Or losing to Dirk when you have a superteam, and losing to Jokic multiple times with a super team?

Blowing a 3-1 lead in the ECF with HCA, then losing Game 7 of the Finals with HCA with your teammate posting a 40 point triple double and winning FMVP, then losing Game 7 of the Finals again the following year with your direct assignment barely able to move up and down the court.

Wilt's FT shooting in all of those game 7s

1968: 6-15
1969: 4-13
1970: 1-11

28% FT shooting in 3 of the biggest games of his career.

There's so many other aspects of those years too.

In Game 6 in '68 Wilt scored 20 points on 6/21 and 8/22 from the line, then in Game 7 he didn't take a single shot attempt in the 2nd half in a game they'd lose by just 4.

In the '69 Finals his ppg dropped off nearly double digits from the regular season to the Finals, including 8 point games in Game 4, a game the Lakers lost by 1, where they could've gone up 3-1, and Game 6 where the Lakers would've clinched the title with a win.

In Game 5 in '70 with Reed out the Lakers blew a 13 point lead and Wilt took 3 shots in the 2nd half despite being guarded by a backup. Then after scoring 45 in Game 6 he doesn't even reach half that total despite Reed barely being able to move.

Nice way to try to deflect, but which is more embarrassing of the two scenarios in the OP?

Jason Kidd (All-Star)
Carion Butler (All-Star)
Shawn Marrion (All-Star)
Dirk Nowitzki (All-Star)
Tyson Chandler (All-Star)
Peja Stojaković (All-Star)
Jason Terry (Sixth Man of the Year)

Dirk's team was better

You know what's REALLY embarrassing? Thinking the 2020 Heat were a better team than the 2025 Pacers.

Not nearly as embarrassing as thinking Pistol Pete was a better passer than Jokic.

Not knowing what an advanced stat is. Or thinking that Tom Brady is the biggest choker in NBA history.

Can't make this stuff up.
