All 3 branches of government are Republican. DOGE is saying they've saved us $206 billion. But still spending is out of control and we're headed for a shutdown. What gives?

Tariffs' effective tax rate has risen from 2.4% to 27%, which contributes to rising inflation: https://www.cnbc.com/2025/09/15/trump-trade-inflation-tariffs-cbo.html

Unemployment is on the rise: https://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/civilian-unemployment-rate.htm

The war in Israel and Ukraine still wages on and the recent escalation by Russia pushes us closer to WW3:

Someone please explain it to me like I'm five. Is Trump's plan doing good things for the economy? If so, please provide link sources to the evidence. I'd like to forward that data to my representatives to show them all we need to keep doing is the things that have been working so well for Trump, right?
