Has to suck being one of those old guys who knows they don’t have it anymore. I was listening to George Gervin tell a story about a game he had 20 something maybe even 30 in the first half when he was on the bulls and he finished the game with like 35 and Jordan said something like “What happened old man?”. It secretly hurt him, but he told him he just wanted him to get a glimpse of how it used to be. In truth, he was gassed after the first half.

I like seeing people get older and changed their games and stick around as long as makes them happy but sometimes I feel like Isiah Thomas had it right. He said he was sitting poolside one day and it was almost time to go to the workout and for the first time in his life, he didn’t want to get up to play basketball so he just Decided he was done.

Personally, I would’ve kept going because he was about to fleece the absolute **** out of the Pistons for a deal that included an ownership stake that was already reported, but I guess once you don’t have it, you just don’t have it

Very random, but Elgin Baylor joined the Minneapolis Lakers, a dynasty just a few years prior. Hall of Famer Vern Mikkelsen was the last of the main guys from that team.
