He was a big negative last year in plus/minus, while also having a bad fit/1st round upset loss with Luka.. And Reaves craters alongside Lebron

Reddick needs to seriously consider bringing him off the bench as a spot up shooter. Rui is playing too well to benched or moved to another position.

they're 8-3 despite luka and/or reaves missing 5 of the games

Who wants Lebron reducing everyone's assists? because that's what he does

Seems like Luka coming back in shape wasn't all talk. It's early but he's playing the best ball of his career.

He's still a massive upgrade over Rui in the starting 5, even if he's a bit washed. He's a better rebounder, similar shooter and better defender on top of being able to create for others at a high level.

Currently, the Lakers have lower defensive requirements because they're facing worn-down opponents, who must defend the Lakers' zippy, high-chemistry speed on offense..

But when Lebron returns, so does the higher defensive requirements because the Lakers offense will slow down to Lebron's old speed - opponents will be fresh as a daisy defending LePlod.. Lebron will get 25 ppg but the offense won't wear down defenses with high energy chemistry like it does now.. With higher defensive requirements from facing fresher opponents, it will look like the Lakers can't play defense, especially with LeOld making it 4 on 5 defensively already.. Ayton will be the fallguy, even though he's currently playing perfectly

So the old Luka-ball thing is gone I guess? :lol

I do suppose shitting on Lebron takes precedent over anything (and everything) you’ve ever said Luka. Fair enough.

Lakers currently down by 36.

OP with another backfire.

It applies to Luka but on a lesser scale than an old guy - but don't worry because Luka will have the same horrible record against Finals teams that Lebron does - you'll see - he's as already 0-1 in the Finals

Luka-ball is just as bad as Lebron-ball, but the team is even worse when they're together (thread title) - this worst-ever fit was "upset-swept" in the 1st Round last season

Just like clockwork. In before Lebrons return makes him cry.

I don't think so. Him and Luka kind of figured it out last season. By the Playoffs it was Luka mostly bringing up the ball and if he got doubled he'd get it to Lebron who would then be able to punish defenses, and Lakers got a bunch of easy Lebron baskets on the break with Luka throwing outlets.

Lakers are 5th in the league, last year they finished 3rd with Bron.

Were down 70-38 AT HALF-TIME without Bron. They are clearly doing great and dont need him

All 3 of Lakers' best players have had injuries and they have 1 more loss than the 2 seed. They're doing great and could definitely replace Lebron and be a good team in the West. Lebron will still make them a better team but I do think Lakers need to revamp their roster after this season by putting more defense around Reaves & Luka.

Because:

If LeBron is cutting under a hash mark-trapped/doubled Luka….

…You have a 6’9” 265lb point guard on a 1-2 dribble 4-on-3.

Few higher efficiency offensive possessions in any NBA era than that.

Also, Legler states another very obvious advantage to having Bron come back, in the OKC post-game, about pushing the ball up early and penetrating OKC shell with speed and force early in the clock, to get them in rotation / spin-cycle, to take away some of that insane perimeter defensive strength, in a way that Luka lacks the speed to do without look-ahead passing. And Reaves has the speed, but lacks strength to deal with physical defenders in that same scenario where force and inertia and size can overcome being knocked off track at full speed, and maintain inertia to the bucket, to either beat the collapse to the spot and finish a 2-1, or force collapse to stop the final 2-on-1 finish, and leave a wide open wing 3.
