Thibs may be better but he gets regilar season success by wearing out his team's core players. Woodson likely won't gameplan defense as well but having fresher players in postseason could make a positive difference.

Similar situation to when Flip Saunders took over for Larry Brown in Detroit. Folks were excited at the thought that the offense would open up. And they did score more. But when it came time to buckle down & strap up, their edge was lost and they grew soft.

team has perfect talent and chemistry. 4th pick scottie barnes playing like an allstar best all-around game and ingram one of the most underrated scorers aka kd-lite mesh perfectly.

I'm still undecided if the Pistons are frauds or legit contenders. They're looking like contenders....but they've had a pretty weak schedule so far. The Rockets are the only good team they've beaten, but that's a pretty solid team to beat.

The East was pretty weak between 2001-2003, especially in the year 2002. That Nets-Celtics conference final was pretty bad. Afterwards, it was still easy getting to the finals in some years, such as 2015, 2018, 2019 or 2020.

I think the second part of your comment won't work because of the first part imo. Yes, they'll be fresher, but they won't have that intensity they had under Thibs.

I remember calling the coaching change at the time a massive downgrade.

While Mike Brown was decent in Sacramento, there wasn't anything about his coaching that made me think he'd move the needle in comparison to Thibs.

For the record I hope I'm wrong but if the players aren't playing hard in the playoffs there's something majorly wrong with them. Every player on the Knicks should be out there thinking this is the best shot they've ever had at a championship. You shouldn't need the rah-rah from the coach with that goal in sight. Thibs is the best defensive coach so yes its a strategy downgrade but healthy personnel is more important.
