Before any LA heads chime in with “some random Greek-American sports-reporter from Chicago couldn’t possibly know this” :

There is a lot of meat on these bones.
Business partners. Greek connection.
Question is, what are the pieces moving each way?

I’m sure these behind the scenes talks have only gained steam since Giannis did young Thiero a solid by taking that “first NBA points” game ball from Bucks team equip manager and giving it to Luka.
That could have been Giannis first hockey assist as a Laker.

I have no idea how the Lakers would get this deal done whatsoever. They don't have the assets.
They would have to deal Reaves and half the roster just to match salary.
With the obvious lone exception being LeBron but he has a no trade claude and no way is he signing off on that lol.
What a stupid rumor.
Even then centering a package around Reaves and draft picks and like 3 other players all for Giannis by himself, Giannis would have to demand to be traded to the Lakers specifically.

This might be one of few teams that makes sense for Milwaukee actually, I take it back. I'm stupid.
Reaves has been consistently good enough this year they might actually do it.
The Lakers could probably kiss the rest of this year goodbye but with LeBron not getting another deal like that and being pushed out they'd actually have the capspace to surround these two with shooters.
If Giannis moves before the summer I think LA Lakers or Spurs. If it takes until summer there is no telling.
Doubt it. They're already enjoying some success rn, so why the need for another high-profile trade?
stupid

I dont know that Giannis and Luka make all that much sense together.
Luka and Reaves is redundant enough, but at least Reaves can space the floor when Luka has the ball.
Luka and Giannis and Ayton on the court together is not great floor spacing.
Also Giannis is 30 and while his athleticism may still last another few years, you never know exactly. And I dont think his game will necessarily age well without it.
The Lakers need to be very methodical and deliberate in evaluating this type of move. It cant just be Luka and Pelinka in some ****ing war room saying "lets go get Giannis!!!"
They need to consult with LeThirdEye to get a more measured perspective.

It’s incredibly easy. Reeves and LeBron(who is then released) pretty much match Giannis and Portis or Reeves and a number of role players. The money part is easy. The money part is always easy with so many $20 million role players in the league. Literally every team in the league could come up with 50 something million without giving up their best player.
Just a matter of who has the draft picks to make it worth it. Far as a young player coming back Reeves is about as good as you’re gonna get unless you’re incredibly high on Ware in Miami.

LeBron will never agree to a trade to Milwaukee.

I suppose it depends how insulting he finds the concept Of being unwanted Combined with being free to sign literally anywhere in the league. He would get to be the big story once more and touchdown virtually anywhere For one more title run.
That said he isn’t necessary. Reeves and Rui make enough to be the core of something like that. Like I said every role player worth a damn makes 15 or 20 million. It’s never been easier to match superstar salary.
I just don’t know how the Lakers draft compensation matches up with other suitors. I know Giannis is reported to have wanted to go to the Knicks last year but with them trading five pics for bridges? I’d have to do more research than I feel like to find out who has the most compensation in a place where he would be willing to go.
If they’re looking for a young star first and foremost? The Lakers have a bit of an advantage there having one of the only ones Both on a value contract going forward and with a team that would still be talented enough after losing him so Giannis would be happy there.
Most other teams with somebody like Reeves to offer would be shit after Giannis got there. But not the Lakers.

And here I thought there'd be some uproar about Luka inserting himself into that situation. I guess it is ok after all to want your team to be better....

With more and more trades every year involving more than 2 teams …
Don’t rule out a 3-way involving Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and Cleveland.
Imagine Lakers and Cavaliers finals, with LeBron and Bronny on Cleveland.

Cavs are a 2nd apron team that is hard capped. It would be an incredible feat to acquire a contract as large as LeBron.
They would need to trade for him while simultaneously shedding about $30M within the same deal.

Nobody wants to see the Lakers get Giannis. Terrible for the NBA.

It would certainly re-open the wound that was the wildly suspicious circumstances surrounding the Doncic trade.
