Because He's got the most momentum to be a legend from the younger generation.

Don't get me wrong there's times Wayne spit fire but then there's other times where the sht he spits is wack and makes no sense! But his fan base is so strong he's constantly dragged into these conversations for reasons not based on the quality of his material.
I've listened to such a great volume of music that I know. He's good not great, not yet at least he does have the potential.

I agree hes not near the level of 2PAC or Dre yet but by the end of his career i see him ahead of them.Every track hes spitting these days is straight fire. Hes one of the few rappers who has more hits then bad songs. Here are some good hits.

I don't know any of his "good songs". :confusedshrug: Seeing as how I hardly listen to him. I download some of his exclusive tracks, but even those don't attract me. His mainstream songs are nothing special. Can you post some lyrics from some of his good songs then?

So Weezy is the best because he doesn't have "boring" rap. Sorry, but I don't see how good lyrics and low beat = boring. I wouldn't call you the best rapper if all of your good songs are underground and exclusive. If you're the best, you have to give great music to the people and on released public albums, not just exclusively and on mixtapes.

That is where you are wrong. The reason he is successful is because of his flow and how he can go on basically any beat. But with that said, Wayne does have talent, he just needs to use it properly and not be featured on every other song, and lay off the drugs.

I will say though that I think Wayne is the best rapper of this MTV generation. Teens love him. It is like when I was a teen, everyone thought Eminem was just amazing, while the older crowd said he was "above average."

Lil Wayne has some of the most creative lyrics in Rap right now. Look at the lyrics for Upgrade remix posted a few pages ago for just a hint of genius. Just because Eminem is the most influential white person in hip hop history doesn't make him one of the best. His lyrics are charged with hate and anger...not my definition of music. He also has completely fell off the map of hip hop and his most recent work has been mainstream pop garbage.

Meh. I wouldn't even say that. His sales didn't really affect anyone except Plies (who sold a lot more than expected). There hasn't been a rap album that sold well since the Carter, even TOS couldn't sell 100k first week.

I would say that he did save the industry, I don't know about the artform, but I will say that he saved mainstream's art of hip hop. If Wayne stopped and didn't release The Carter III, I would say that the art of hip hop is only underground (Reluctantly). But, because he released Tha Carter III, mainstream listeners can listen to good rap as appose to everything else going on.

I really, really am annoyed by Lil Wayne. Talk about over saturation, you have the definition of it right there. There are plenty of rappers out there that have much more variety and clean style that never get talked about (Sweatshop Union, Shad etc). It seems that Waynes unconventional delivery (that I cannot stand, it sounds like a dying goat) and strange charisma allow him to flood hip hop stations.
