During his early years, Vince Carter was a highlight-making machine. He was absolutely ridiculous from 1999 to 2001. He had the most amazing dunks I've ever seen from anybody. He also had crazy game-winners as well as athletic layups around the rim. Vince slowed down in around 2002, and injuries slowed him down from 2002 to about late 2004, when he was traded to the New Jersey Nets. When he played his first games for the Nets, he displayed the same excitement (although not on the same level as before) that he did during his first 3 seasons in the Association. He has since slowed down, but is still a border-line All-Star type player. However the highlights have gone down. His career will most notably be known for his phenomenal highlights early on.

So this thread is just to appreciate the glory that is Vince Carter. Share your thoughts/memories on the greatest NBA dunker of all time. The man with so many nicknames: Vinsanity, Invincible, Vincredible, Vintastic, Vindication, Prince Vince, Half Man Half Amazing, Human Highlight Film II, Air Canada, Air Jersey, The Dunk Machine, VC, etc.

Many people don't like this guy or criticize him, but you gotta appreciate how exciting his game is. I have never seen anybody this good at making overall highlights, and it's not even close. Here's a great video:

Vince Carter is one of the best Highflyers during his prime, and The first franchise player of the Toronto Raptors.

Appreciated :pimp: although it's sad to see him and know that he could have easily been the best player today if he had any kind of work ethic in his Toronto days and a superstar mentality...... Dude had all the talent in the world, but he was too passive & laid back to ever become the player he was capable of becoming. Same thing can be said for Rasheed Wallace.

Sometimes an underrated scorer, always an underrated shooter, and is an underrated passer. Watching him in Toronto was a highlight film every night. In his prime he was one of the best in the game. Best dunker I've ever seen in NBA history. Could have done so much more with his talent, though... 32/6/6 was always a possibility.

Well, as far as I know, Vince hasn't eaten any babies.

But then again, he hasn't gone on the record as not eating babies, so who knows.

Hey, you stole that from Clone High USA!

Anyway, Vince Carter really, really appreciates men raping him. Is that what you mean by Vince Carter Appreciation thread?

He is also a worthless, stupid sack of ****, and squandered his talent accordingly!

in game where it counts I'll take Jordan over him anyday..I dont give a damn about fast break dunks..Give me the break down the defense and cram it on someone's head in the playoffs dunks that Jordan provided...

people really ignore how awesome he was the first 2 years at the nets- he absoloutly led them all the way to the playoffs that year he came over with awesome averages- the next season was loaded with great dunks, if you made a log of the greatest dunking seasons- in terms of awesome in game dunks, vinces 05-06 season with the nets would rank alltime top 5, over probably any year anyone(other than him) has ever had, people always forget how great hes been with jersey, that season he also had a great season game wise, and although last year was seriously lacking in the dunks department he put up what 26/6/5, and you could see from the allstar game, he is still the best dunker in the league and i dont even think its close....he seems to have lost his desire to play once again thoe- this season he is absoloutly stinking it up and playing horribly, im a big fan of his and i blame him mainly for how **** the nets are...maybe he needs another trade.

as good as he has been in his career he hasnt even scratched the surface of what he could have been, he has every physical and offensive gift a basketball player could ever have, hes maybe the most naturally gifted scorer of his generation, hes just fallen short of what he could have done- the hideous display last year against cleavland had many people criticising him again and to be honest alot of people just plain hate him for quitting on toronto, to be honest thats just and fair to a degree but its at the point where is massivly underatted by the majority of fans.

for someone who is so often unfairly talked about as having no heart or desire he owns somewhat suprising playoff averages

That season made it even more disappointing for those of us who followed VC from day 1. He proved everyone's point at what a motivated and determined Vince Carter can do. I will always appreciate the dunks and the freakish athleticism from the early days, but I do still find disappointment in looking back at his career.

The thing that annoys me about Vince is he has never really appeared to care about winning an NBA championship. It's especially evident when he plays next to Jason Kidd who would slit his own wrists to win an NBA title, and Carter is basically playing just to get a check and some excersize.

Wtf are you showing pictures of him injured? You would EXPECT that if you jump 40+ inches off the ground. Hell, even IF you could jump 40+ inches, your knee will be twice as bad as Vince's. You jump 3/4 of his vertical, so I wouldn't be talking.

The pics in this thread are great. Especially A-Roc.

Oh, and I love how the kidz are enamored because VC could do crazy dunks. Like, for example, the OP posted nothing but pics of VC dunking. Yes, VC was a crazy dunker. Yes, he had amazing talent.

Yes, Vince Carter is the epitome of wasting ridiculous talent and athleticism. Also see: McGrady, Tracy

Coincidence? I think not!

Carter had that nasty buzzer beater dunk in his rook or second year w raptors.

After that he just became a woman. His legacy would be the bigest va gina in the NBA.

Good look.

Hes playing with energy today unlike his lackluster performance last night vs the Rockets.

Hopefully he can have a 40 point game(hasnt had one in a while) and lead the Nets to a much leaded W.

He's really been great this season. Vince and Devin Harris have easily been among the best duos, too bad that the Nets don't really have any other consistent players.

He's still one of the best scorers and shooters in the league as well as being one of the best playmaking swingmen and one of the best rebounding guards.

Really Vince has played hard since the trade to New Jersey. He didn't play hard his last 3 years in Toronto but Vince not playing with effort is mostly a thing of the past. He has only missed 8 games since the trade to New Jersey as well.
