Wagners anus is better and he is back!

Last week, Wagner had 65 points on Wednesday in the Cherry Hill League, including 15 threes. The next night, he had 67 points at Drexel in the Rankin/Anderson League. Now, 132 on consecutive nights will get your attention. "He's regained a lot of his strength," Bauer said. "The guy's built like an animal. He looks more like a defensive back than a point guard or shooting guard. The last time I saw him, he looked fabulous. From my point of view, from the gastrointestinal surgery, he's made a complete recovery."

He never did that in the pros, though.

Until then, Kobe is the first, second, and third option on offense.

So is he going to play in the NBDL or Europe or something, or is he going to try to come back directly to the NBA? Do you think those doors will be still open for him?

I think before NBA GMs even start considering him, he has to prove he still can rock against tougher competition.

Those leagues suck, i know players there and they are average D3 players. The Cherry Hill is nothing. I hope he is back but that means nothing

he's only 23 so he's still young enough for a team to take a chance on him and make a come back.

A team lacking guards might as well bring him and/or Jay Williams in for training camp. Can't hurt to look.

Even Still, to hit 15 3's in a gm is impressive. Wagnerhas been a scorer his whole life and his rookie year he was in the running for rookie of the year before he got hurt and missed the last qtr of the season. He has had this colon disease since he was a frosh at Memphis not to Mention they found out recently Wags needed contact lenses for poor eyesight. Calipari said he was scoring 100 points in HS literally being half blind. I have seen this kid play since his frosh yr in HS and I know he is special, people forget he was National player of the year before Lebron in HS. He led the Mcdonald's all-star gm in scoring, he was was on the all-frosh team his one year at Memphis. I think JUanny will still be a good player(scorer) in the league. The one article said if Wags was on the Sixers he would instantly become there #2 option behind AI. There is a chance He may never be more than a 6th man but there are alot of teams than can use instant offense off the bench.

Juanny is kinda like Randy Foye, except a half step slower, more selfish, and a bit stronger.

In high school they played a lot alike and were two of my favorite players to watch. I hope he come back, if he ever gets his head on st8 he'll be fine

Differance is Foye was a poor man's Wagner in HS. Foye was pretty much Wagner lite.

After watching them both against studs...

Juanny v. Julius Hodge(Juanny dunked on him hard)
Foye v. Taquean Dean(Taquean was on ice skates)

I think Randy could have averaged more points but chose not to. Juanny was a better hs player but the gap wasn't that big.

Let me see former #1 consensus highschool all american. Highly touted player by colleges. Had a terrific college career. NBA lottery pick said to be the next AI only STONGER but a step slower. And we are here praising ths kids dominace of ymca league like Ev08? The compeition is far worst then the summer league competition. Anyone impressed needs a reality check.

I guess it's nice that he made 15 threes, but part of his problem is that he took that many shots. He obviously can't run a team, and if he's not good enough to be a true number one option for a contender, what else does he bring to the table. Even when he was drafted, I thought his best role would be as a bench scorer. But I don't know if his ego will let him do it. He could be playing a bigger version of Eddie House's role, or even Ben Gordon.

The Mamba

But he can't shoot, NEAR as well as Ben Gordon.

It wasn't the problem that he couldn't score in the NBA, it was that he couldn't defend.

I'm not talking about skill, just role. Come off the bench and be the go to guy for 10 minutes at a clip. If he's hot, you run with him, if not, try again tomorrow. The problem is that it's not worth dealing with him to put him in that role. He doesn't defend well enough to play 2, and he can't run a team at all. So there aren't a whole lot of roles for him to fill.

The Mamba
08-05-2006, 11:36 AM
yeah. Let's not get over-excited and think he can drop 67 on NBA cats. Cause he never got up over the 20's when he played. I see him in that Vinnie Johnson type mold.

If healthy and playing big Minutes Wagner WOULD score in the 20's in the League. He had a couple 30 point games a rookie.

It is a shame cause he should have been in Damon Jones Role if he still was with the Cav's. Wagner is just flat out better offensively than Damon and they defend about the same but Wags could get better with his terrific strength and proper coaching.

Yeah He did. He also had a 30 and 10 game against the knicks. He couldn't stay healthy partially because his body was breaking down from the disease he had. If he is 100% cured like they said he is I expect him to stay healthy because he is built like a football player and is in great shape.

If he does turn into a starter quality guy there's no reason you couldn't stick him on the Bulls or Clippers, both teams have pure PGs that can guard SGs full-time so Wagner can guard the PG yet be a scorer.

The problem is that his score at all cost mentality takes a lot out of an offensive system, and makes it difficult to get anyone else going. At the same time, you don't want to take that away from him, because it's what he does best, so you don't want to suppress it. There's nothing wrong with that explosive bench role, where he may have 2 big games a week, then not play all that much the rest, because he just doesn't have it that night. The difficulty would be in proving that to him.
