According to a prominent celebrity website, New Jersey forward Richard Jefferson choked a Minneapolis bar patron at a downtown hotel in late January, the Star-Tribune has reported.

The incident was originally reported on TMZ.com, according to the Tribune.

Jefferson and another patron were engaged in an argument that led the Nets' star to placing his hands around the patron's neck as they wrestled to the floor.

TMZ claims that Minneapolis police are investigating the forward for possible charges of "assault with bodily harm."
