View Full Version : Durant WILL be a beast

That's right, there's been alot of cheap shots on this forum thrown at my man KD, but trust me he WILL be a star in this league. Once the Sonics settle on a pg, move KD to his natural small forward position, the sky will be the limit. In his last 9 games he's averaging 21.4 pts on 50% shooting.....meanwhile having to play shooting guard after one year in college as a power forward.....19 years old.......this kid is NICE!!!!!!!

Agreed. A lot of hate for Durant on these forums, though recently he has been lighting it up. Pretty much every game he is shooting 50% now. He probably had a talk with his coach, who told him to calm down on offense and take good looks and not force it.

i think the main thing people have to remember is hes 19 years old... give him 2-3 years and he'll be doing some amazing things

yea but the sonics will still miss the playoffs in the next 3 or 4 years to come, unless they make BIG changes in their roster and coaching staff, anyways, this kid is amazing, I see him fitting into more of a sf position next year, which will allow him to blossom even more, I don't know why there is so much hate, I see him averaging 25 ppg next year on a 45% shooting.

Why move him to SF? If he's quick enough, having him at SG and having a big line-up would benefit the Sonics. Imagine a line-up like this:
PG:6-6'3
SG: Durant
SF: Green
PF: Wilcox
C: Swift

Unless the PG is Deron Williams, Baron Davis or Chauncey Billups, that lineup would suck. What's your point?

Right now for the season Durant is at
41.1% from the field, 28.0% on 3's and 87.6% from the line.
Overall that is actually more efficient than Lebron as a rookie who shot
41.7% from the field, 29.0% on 3's and 75.4% from the line.
Not too far away from Carmelo as a rookie either and he shot
42.6% from the field, 32.2% on 3's and 77.7% from the line
Durant also doesn't have an NBA ready body like the others did.
Lebron was 6-7 and 245 pounds already when he was drafted while Carmelo was already 6-6 and 233. Durant is only 215 at 6-9. If Durant can get up to 230 or 235 watch out. Plus just wait until he gets use to NBA range 3's. Combine that with his freakish length for a 2 guard, great scoring touch, athletisism ect. and he could be winning a few scoring titles himself. This kid is already shooting 88% from the foul line and he is only 19 years old. That's impressive.

He will be great????
I don't know, what kind of cheap shots were taken against him, but dude was great for a 19 year old. His stats are comparable to Brons and Melos rookie stats, and he was not scared at clutch shots. Just as VCMVP1551 said, let him get used to NBA, and gain a bit more weight.
Then he will be more than great.
He will be a GOAT candidate.(hopefully he won't strugle from the injuries)

Sorry, but he can't stay at the 2...he needs to be closer to the hoop and maybe only shoot 2-3 threes a game...The thing I love about this kid is his work ethic, which has been well documented...pair him with Mayo after this year and you have something to buld on... unfortunately, the sonics drafted Green(Hawes or Yi would've been a good pick), who's a nice player but his best position is small forward also; however, he's gotta go so hopefully him getting alot of exposure in the current starting lineup will create a fairly high demand from other squads. I think the Sonics should play fast next year with a lineup of:
PG- Ridnour
SG- Mayo/Gordon, etc
SF-Durant
PF- WIlcox
C- Collison

This guy has guard skills and athletisism but at 6'9" with a 7'5" wingspan he has center length. As Flamboyant mentioned he seems like a clutch shooter for a rookie too. While I don't know if he'll ever have the all around game Lebron does he may end up a better scorer because of his great free throw shooting and jump shooting potential.

Stats over Durant's last 10 games. Look at the FG% (ignore the 3PT% though, hah).
20.9 PT .470 of 15.1 FG .917 of 7.2 FT .143 of 0.7 3P 4.0/1.1 RB 2.5 AS 0.7 BL 1.0 ST 3.9 TO 2.0 PF 35.8 MN 10/10 GS

I think Durant would probably be a little more effective as a 3 as well, because for now the 3 point shot is not his friend, and thats necessary from your shooting guard. Does have the potential to be a beast in this league though.

Let's be real, when you got that move, nothing else matters.
I love durant because he provides me a player who is worthy of cheering against. There was a void left after the decline of the two-peat lakers
