Amare's dunks were weak. Take away Nash's ability to play football and they are just basic dunks. JR Smith got robbed in that contest.

I'd also like to add that most people will give VC's hops most the credit for his amazing dunks, but his overall motion I think is most incredible. When he does a windmill, for example, he completes the arm rotation better and smoother than I've ever seen anyone do it. That's why I think he's the greatest.

lmao, its always hilarious when there is a discussion for best dunker when vince is in the conversation, vince is so far ahead of anyone else ever in history it isnt even worth thinking about, he changed dunking period. even his basic dunks look better than almost any other players most elaborate ones. nobody would beat prime vince carter in a dunk contest cause theyd have to get 5 50's...which he can(and pretty much did) without even breaking a sweat. it has to be said j-rich did a couple of the sickest dunks ever in dunk contest history but can he guarantee 5 50's, hell no. most years between 98-06 vince had like 20 of the best 30 dunks in the league, **** if you compilled a top 50 vince dunk compilation it would probably be better than a top 50 dunk compilation of all the other great dunks in nba history.

kobe is a great game dunker, but his dunk contest was utterly pathetic and a total disgrace, darvin ham detsroyed that contest and somehow got cheated....

In terms of the dunk contest, I can give you that, but in terms of in-game dunks Amare was a poster machine. Especially pre-injury.

But yeah he doesn't belong in the same discussion when talking about flashy dunk contest dunks. There's juist a different art to pulling off a clean looking 360 compared to posterizing someone.
