I think this question could be a bit more interesting (since obviously no they don't have dignity, unless the word "dignity" is re-defined right out of existence) if it were: Porn stars vs. prostitutes. On the one hand, porn stars have sex for money and thousands of people watch. On the other hand, prostition is much more unclean. And what about sex show performers? Where do they fit in? Which of the three would you rather be if you were a female?

Now, I think it's pretty clear they don't have "dignity" (=elevation of character), but can porn stars claim that what they do is good and valuable? Ought they to feel proud of what they do? I think that's also a much more interesting question. It was addressed in the most recent episode of House which is why I bring it up. Like always with that show, it presented an interesting issue but was too busy highlighting House's smart alecks, various characters' irrelevant personal drama, and grossout medical-show stuff to really explore the issue more than superficially, but I found the issue intriguing. Does a porn star have the right to feel proud of her role.

Also it's interestig to consider male porn stars. Think about the almost zen-like concentration and self-control you'd need to last that long. It's almost spiritual in a way.
