Round 1 of the 2008 nba playoffs:

#1 Pistons vs #7 Sixers

The announcers talked about the Piston players recieving a packet of 270 pages of scouting reports on the sixers. I wonder if they all really read all of it.

The Sixers are a decent up and coming team and could steal a game or two this series if the Pistons aren't careful. However I think the Piston's depth is just too much. Maybe next year if the Sixers had a low post presence like Okafor or something they would pose a threat but as of now they are a limited fastbreak hustle team. Sheed and Maxiell should have a field day down low.

detroit's young talent is not much worse than philly's. sure iguodala is better than any young player the pistons have, but i would take maxiell, johnson, stuckey over young, smith, williams 7 days of the week.

The Sixers play exactly the type of chaotic no-game-plan basketball that gives the Pistons fits at times. That said I think they woke the Pistons up by beating them in the last two meetings.

Philly is likely to get at least one or two in this series.

If the Pistons showed up every night, they have the personnel to make it a fast series but the Pistons get complacent and can very well drop both games in Philly

flintstone
04-19-2008, 10:53 AM
If the Pistons don't turn the ball over a lot, and they usually don't....beating Philly should only be a matter of playing the entire game...no lazy play. Philly brings it the entire game, they are a ball of energy.

This series could be boring, or NOT....it all depends on which Piston team shows up.

the pistons should win in 5 or have a complete sweep.i dont think the sixers can win 2 games against this team.tayshaun prince is usually a "sixer killer".sixers usually have to put iguodala on him,and his length is just too much

Damn no one posts in this gamethread. This series will be closer than many people think. I think Pistons win in 5 games but it will be close games. I think Detroit's late game experience will be the difference. It is funny though about the second round. I think Orlando will beat Toronto but it is very close. Yet Detroit matches up much better with Toronto.

Yeah, but they should have 5 or 6 in that time period. Between two game 7 finals losses and a bad showing against Miami in a weak year for the NBA.

Seriously. Denver won 50 games in the WEST. Phill had a losing record (40-42) in the EAST. They suck to be honest. AI, Carmello, Camby, Martin and that 2nd highest scoring offense would rape them 4-0 in a series. Lakers blew out Denver but Detroit is struggling to beat a bad Sixers team, where are all the Piston's haters?

People just hate on the Lakers because we have one of the best players to ever step on a court and a great team this year. Keep hating.

every team has dumb turnovers like the one you just mentioned

today in the 1st Q of the lakers/nuggets game kobe came down the court after a dumb offensive sequence by the nuggets where he then overdribbled causing a shot clock violation without even getting a shot up and giving the ball right back

again today - kobe has 3 fouls and commits a dumb foul on carmelo when shooting a jumper thus causing him to be taken out at a crucial part of the 3rd when the nuggets were making a run

I was never confident, but they surely can win. Pistons won it all in 2004 and lost to a worse Bucks team, at home, in the first round. The following year they dropped game 3 in the first round to the 6ers and went to game 7 in the Finals. What do you say to that?

No it's about one extreme to the next, you were clearly overconfident in the past and are now overly pessimistic.

And you can't make a distinction between the past first round losses and this one. "Everybody knew those piston teams were great" No they didn't, that is a silly comment.
