So it seems that the Lakers are almost always listed as one of the top rivals of other teams, but I was wondering from the Laker fans' perspectives, what teams are your biggest rivals?

If I had to guess, I'd say (in no particular order): Suns, Spurs, Celtics, Kings, and either Bulls/Trailblazers.

OK....

I feel our biggest rivals are..........

1. The Celtics

It has not been much of a rivalry for the last twenty years or so. But all the Finals games between these two franchises....and titles Celtics with 16 Lakers with 14 etc. Bird vs. Magic...Wilt vs. Russel etc. And now the chance of meeting in the Finals again. IT'S ON!!!!!!!!!!

2. The Spurs

The past ten or eleven years this is whats the NBA has been about. Lakers three titles....Spurs four.

3. The Pistons

They have took 2 Finals out of three against us. I hate them!!!!!!

4. The Queens

Not much of anything right now. And the rivalry is kind of lopsided with the Lakers having the titles and knocking out the Queens in their hay day not to long ago. But every Laker fan loves beating up on the Queens. I know I do!!!

5. The Suns

The Suns knock us out of the playoffs for the past two years. They have Shaq now and play in the same division. But not much of a rivalry cause they got no titles and through out the history of the two teams we pretty much kicked their asses.

A good thing is though....these teams and fans would probably rank us as their top hated team. Thats a sign of respect!!!

I would agree with that list, though I MIGHT replace detroit with utah. If there was a sixth spot, I think Golden state would take it because of the whole norcal vs. socal rivalry.

Throw Cleveland in there too.

cleveland will have to be an obstacle in the lakers getting a championship before they get that honor.

cleveland lucked out in getting lebron and they might not be able to keep him.

As of right now I say,
1. Spurs (we've been battling them all decade)
2. Suns (just the past few years have really heated up and bad blood is boiling on so many fronts.)
3. Celtics (the rivalry died down due to Boston stinking so bad the past 20 years, but now that they are back up there it will heat back up again. that 10 year war in the 80's between the Lakers and Celtics was one of the best battles in sports history.)
4. Trailblazers (this one will start heating up with the up and coming young talented guys. Plus Oden and Bynum will battle it out for the best center in the western conf/NBA for years to come. Who can forget that epic game 7 meltdown by POR a few years back!)
5. Kings (this one is dying down now that Kings window of opportunity slammed shut and all the core players where shipped out.)

I don't think you can consider LA/BOS a rivarly anymroe

To be honest, the team I dislike the most when we play them is the suns. They may not be the consensus biggest rival for the lakers, but they're my biggest rival. It's the freshest rivalry out of all of them.

I'd say Celtics, Blazers, Spurs, Suns, and the Kings. Sonics use to be up there but have faded overtime.

The Pistons, Jazz and Rockets to a smaller extent.

I don't think hornets are a rival since we beat them every time this season except for once(That was the 10-11 stretch run right after Bynum got hurt before we got Gasol). IMO, Hornets are more of Kobe's rival team this season since the MVP trophy was basically between Kobe/Paul and I am sure it will be the same next season too.

1) If Lakers and Celtics both reach finals, there will be a HUGE HUGE rivalry. Just watch and see. Kobe always went nuts in scoring in Boston every time and Pierce always tried to prove something to Kobe. Remember, KG might try to get back to us after we beat him up when he was in Timberwolves. Kobe and Allen were fairly big rivals at one point(almost got into a fight once early on if I remember correctly). If Bynum is back, I think he is forming some small rivalry with Perkins and we will see them going back and forth. It will be a huge rivalry for the nba for the next couple seasons.

2) Suns. Not much to say here.:oldlol:

3) Detroit. They beat us once in championship series already and I don't think they can beat us again without Ben Wallace. Ben Wallace almost shut Shaq down and Kobe didn't contribute that much. We got a new Kobe now and a MUCH better starting 5 and better bench and I don't think Detroit can stop us anymore. The rivalry was short and already on its way down.

4) Spurs. As somebody up top mentioned, we have to go through them almost every season. They have always been the team(along with Kings) that we had to go through almost every season, i would consider it some rivalry in a way(not really the trash talking kind. just... different).

5) TrailBlazers. It will be a huge rivalry for seasons to come if they keep their current team around. Oden/Alridge/Roy. Damn that is going to be one kickass trio and good enough to match up with Bynum/Gasol/Kobe next season. If Oden isn't a scrub in his first season, I am already slightly worried about playing Portland. They are going to make a big run next season and they will be in the playoffs for sure(could end up as top4 seeds if Oden plays to his expectations).
