Patrick O'Bryant has a 9'4 standing reach and 7'4 wingspan. Saer Sene's are 9'5 and7'8.5 which is the longest wingspan I have ever read of.

I heard "normal really tall person" problems, for lack of a better way of saying it. Problems with his legs and all that stuff. As for long arms:

Rondo comes to mind at PG
Tayshaun obviously has freakish looking arms
Rasheed and KG both have the high release and reach
Tyson Chandler looks really long as well

Those are off the top of my head. I've heard about Sene and O'Bryant as well and their wingspans are really long as well.

Pavel was tall but wasn't very long at all. His wingspan is shorter than his height.

He wasn't even good at dunking when he jumped. Dude got blocked by Maceij Lampe. I'm sure there's some unwritten rule that anytime you get blocked by Maceij Lampe, you get expelled from the league. This wasn't even a weak side block, or I didn't see him there, he got me from behind type block. This was on a 1 on 1 move, I see you there, you can't guard me, I'm making a post move on you, blocked :oldlol: Bum, waste or a damn 22nd pick. Delonte West, Trevor Ariza, David Harrison, and Anderson Varajeo were still on the board.

His arms aren't the longest per se - but Dwyane Wade has a 6'11 wingspan. Craziness! Fred Jones does too.

Here's where I got it from: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/?year=All&sort2=ASC&draft=15&sort=

There's a few 6'1 guys with 6'8.5 wingspans too

edit - Will Solomon from 2001 is 5'11.75" tall and has a 6'9.5" wingspan!

but i just remember reading that he could either dunk on his toes or flat footed.

Might you have him confused with Jaber Rouzbahani, an Iranian giant who was elligible to be drafted the same year as Pavel? I recall people discussing his ability to dunk on his tippy toes back in 2005, but he was just too raw and unathletic to warrant being selected.

Manute Bol- 7'7", 8'6" wingspan
Shaq- 7'1", 7'7" wingspan
Andrew Bynum- 7'1", 7'6"-7'7" wingspan
Scottie Pippen- about 6'8" but his wingspan is 7'2'
Dwyane Wade- around 6'4" but his wingspan is about 6'11"
Tracy McGrady- 6'6" with a 7'2" wingspan
Kevin Durant- 6'9" with a 7'5" wingspan
Dwight Howard- 6'9"-6'10" with a 7'4"-7'5" wingspan

Patrick Ewing would probably be second to only Manute Bol aswell. His wingspan looked massive. Gasol's wingspan looks long too.

Wasn't also his standing reach something like 10'3-10'4? A wingspan of 8'6 is ridiculous. To make a comparison, Robert Wadlow's wingspan was a little more than 9'5. A big albatross' wingspan may reach 10 feet.

ForceOfNature
06-02-2008, 02:32 PM
You guys gotta keep in mind that wingspan is the measurement between a players fingertips when he stretches his arms out in opposite directions. What does that mean? Wingspan measures not only arm length but SHOULDER WIDTH also. Some players who have large wingspans have average length arms, but very wide shoulders. Just something to keep in mind the next time you look at players' wingspans.

Anyway, to answer the original question, I would say Tayshaun Prince has the longest arms to height ratio.

Anyways that 7,5" Jaber Rouzbahani guy is pretty freakish too! I bet his wingspan is at least 8 feet! He's 'only' 7,5" and yet can reach the freaking rim while standing flatfooted!!

http://www.cantonrep.com/printable.php?ID=415663

"I think wingspan is every bit as important, maybe way more important than your height," said Minnesota Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale, who had an 8-foot wingspan in his day. "You've seen those guys that are 6-11, and they've got those pterodactyl arms. Those guys, they don't do too well."

No...it's on a legitimate 10 foot rim! It only looks like a 9 foot rim because Shagari is a freaking 7,3" (and that's bare foot unlike what most players nowadays who list their height with shoes on)! He's more like 7,4ish with his shoes on. And as for Kevin Mchale having an 8 foot wingspan I seriously doubt because he's only 6,10" , and Shagari Alleyne is 7,3" (5 inches taller) and his wingspan is 'only' 8 feet wide yet his arms still look pretty damn long even proportion to his height (and also because if McHale's wingspan was 8 feet his fingers would literally be reaching to his knees while he's standing up straight which it obviously isn't but pretty damn close)! I think Mchale's wingspan is in the mid 7 feet range (probably the same as Yao's) but that's still a relatively big-ass wingspan/reach.

There aren't many people out there that have a wingspan of 8 feet or more, so if you do, congratulations, you are a freak of nature!

I'm pretty sure he has acromagely (sp?). If you've ever known anyone that has it, they are huge but have no energy because their pituatary is messed up. Everyone sees how huge they are and thinks they should dominate all kinds of sports, but sadly their condition means their 6 foot friends have a much better shot than they do.

Well if you are that tall, you either have some big-ass relatives or you are have some serious big issues (no pun intended). Gigantism and acromegaly btw are the same disorder but occurring at different stages of life. Gigantism is the secretion of excessive growth hormone before the fusion of the growth plates which results in vertical growth whereas acromegaly is excessive growth hormone secretion after the growth plates have sealed. That would result in enlargement of the extremities (skull, hands, fingers, toes, and etc) rather than increased height, and acromegaly is exactly what's deadly...not gigantism which is just excessive height growth.

AK47 looks like he has quite a reach to my eyes. Anyone know what his wing-span is?

Yeaaaa, if anyone knows his wingspan, must be big!

Jason Maxiell has some pretty long arms. But Elton Brand also has a disproportionately long wingspan. 6,8" barefoot with a 7,5" wingspan?
That's ridiculous! Elton and Jason also have very short necks which is another plus when it comes to standing reach. Having a long neck is wasted height according to Jerry Krause which I agree. Now this guy has one LONG-ASS NECK.

He's around 7,1 ish barefoot but I bet if he had short neck like Elton or Maxiell he would 6,11 or 7' instead. I am pretty sure having such a long neck isn't going to help you at all in basketball or having such a short neck wouldn't hurt you either.

Might you have him confused with Jaber Rouzbahani, an Iranian giant who was elligible to be drafted the same year as Pavel? I recall people discussing his ability to dunk on his tippy toes back in 2005, but he was just too raw and unathletic to warrant being selected.

I think I heard Brandon Wright of the Warriors (who's 6'10") has a 7'4" wingspan.

They often say either extremes of something are not good but when it comes to neck length, having a ridiculously short neck is better than a ridiculously long neck any day...whether in aesthetics or in basketball.

How about this guy wingspan? Robert Pershing Wadlow 8'11"

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records/human_body/extreme_bodies/tallest_man.aspx

At the age of nine, he was able to carry his father Harold F. Wadlow, later Mayor of Alton, who stood 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) and weighed 77 kg (170 lb), up the stairs of the family home.

His dad and I share exactly the same stats! :lol

Everytime I see his exposed shin I just think how has he never broken his leg? It's a long arse toothpick for goodness sake.

I wonder how long this guy's armspan is? Hahhahaha he could probably dunk standing flatfooted:oldlol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8k-EKqWIV4&feature=related
Too bad he doesn't play basketball though.

Maybe it's been mentioned already, but George Hill (the Spurs recent first round pick) has crazy long arms.

He's 6 foot 2 inches, with a 6'9 wingspan...

In his short career with the Spurs, his career highs are 23 points, 8 assists, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block, 2 3PTM.

He's a unique player, but his game is comparable to Monta Ellis and Rajon Rondo, IMO. Long, athletic, and can get to the basket well.

If you could grab the rim flatfooted at 'only' 7,5" then I would congratulate you for having crazy long arms.

When I think of crazy long arms and standing reach, Jaber Rouzbahani because wherein at 'only' 7,5" he can grab the rim flatfooted because his armspan is 8 feet! 7,5" Yao, by comparsion, is several inches shy of the rim flatfooted and has to go on his tippy toes just to touch the rim because his armspan is only 7,5". This 7,4" guy Shagari Alleyne can also touch the rim flatfooted (his armspan is also 8 feet!).

Tayshaun Prince's is far from the longest even though he has very long arms proportionally speaking. Kenny George has the longest arm span I've heard at a whopping 8,5!

Andrew Bynum has really long arms. Rajon Rondo has long arms for his height.

Didn't think Oliver Miller would've slipped through the cracks. A 6'9 dude with a 7'6 wingspan. The exact dimensions of Kevin Durant.... well maybe 2 Kevin Durants...

Damn that's a long wingspan! 9 inches more than his own height. He must almost be able to touch his knees standing up lol!
