I'm no fashion expert, but doesn't it make the most sense that when you're flipping through a magazine, that one girl that'll make you stop and flip back to her ad is what you'd most look for? I think alot of people have this notion that all models are suppose to be hot, but like a poster mentioned earlier, it's an art. Models come in all shapes and sizes. They need certain people that can fit the product that their trying to sell. Now this might sound ridiculous, but if you're ever walking by a high up-skilled boutique, some always have a mannequin display by their window to advertise what they're selling. Sometimes their is the light one and sometimes there is a black one. They always happen to put the clothes on the mannequin that best compliments them. You know how ugly it would look to put a white dress on a white mannequin? Well...it wouldn't be ugly, but it wouldn't stand out. And Vice versa. How often do you see Alek Wek in black attires?

This. As far as im concerned being the top model isnt about being the most physically attractive. There are certain types of modeling and not all has a criteria that demands a model to look like a swimsuit model. There is a reason she is well known in the fashion industry and if i had to guess it's because she represents the beauty of the people with very dark skin.
