I jammed my finger while playing basketball today. What can I do to help it heal faster?

Depending how long ago it happened you can sometimes yank it back into place. If not you're probably just going to have to wait it out and try not hurt it again.

Who was the poster that was calling me soft earlier??
Anyways, when you jam a finger, your suppose to squeze it hard and pull on it for a bit. If you do it right, you should be able to feel the difference and swelling will be limited. But I'm guessing you passed that stage so all you do now is rest and with any swelling, keep it moving and raised up for drainage.

Since you think I'm stupid I won't give you this advice.
I have a little secret to healing faster, if you can afford it. There is this awesome thing called a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber. You go inside and it blows up full of air. It raises the pressure several PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) higher than outside (the small ones usually four). It forces oxygen into your tissues and I can tell you with a 100% certainty that it helps you heal faster. I've seen many people injured that were told they'll have to sit out for a couple of months, but came back within weeks.
It really helps your body fix itself. Just google it.

I jammed my finger three months ago and I still feel the pain. It doesn't heal fast, but you'll be able to play through it.
I'm starting to think mine is more than a jammed finger.

My fingers are seriously effed up from having jammed them so many times and slamming both hands (on different occassions) in car doors when I was a kid.

In middle school, my ring finger got jammed so much its permanently diamond shaped.

\/ just less exaggerated
All you can really do is ice it to make the swelling go away and try not to jam it again.

Its probably cause you jammed that one finger more then once.

Yeah I've got a little bit of that going on too. I play bass and playing certain songs gives me a little discomfort. Not really from the speed of the song but just from the way I have to move them.

I dislocated or broke my pinky knuckle or hand bones in that area about six weeks ago. Starting to finally get some strength back in it, but wishing I had gone to a hospital as its still badly deformed, and probably will remain that way forever.

6 weeks ago? Are you slow? (Sorry) You know if you went to the doctor you would have been out by now? It usually takes for taht injury about 4-6 weeks to heal properly, you would have been back to normal if you just went.

Eh, it never hurt bad enough for me to consider spending money on it honestly.

Ive jammed my finger plenty of times. For me, icing it for long periods of time works best. In less than 2 weeks it was fine. Ive tried leaving it alone, but it didnt heal for over 5-6 weeks. Ive tried creams as well and it healed in around a month. I also taped my finger since it didnt heal in time for the next game. Never felt any discomfort with a taped finger.

Jammed my finger several times and I just continued playing. It would go away in about a week since I would massage it and squeeze it really hard. I never put ice.

When I jammed fingers, I used ice for the first 24 hours and a heating pad after that. It's back to normal in about a week.
