I know that nig-ga tacky when he got a I3 jersey on in 2008
ICE T' son is corny as hell, that nig-ga sounded so gay trying to say "eat a di-ck" with his high water shorts

Man, the game really has changed. Remember when hip hop beefs would get settled with battles, or in much more ignorant cases, with violence? Now they're being broadcast on YouTube, talk about the over commercialization of a culture.

What are the aliens gonna think when they see us dancing to Soulja Boy?
It will flip 180 from The Day the Earth Stood Still to Independence Day.

I just dont understand how Soulja Boy can ruin hip hop because of one song. People like it, or they dont. Ice T is made cuz Soulja Boy has him some Bathing Apes.

:oldlol: @ Ice-T apoligizing to a 17 year old. He knows he got owned, but I wanna see how this ends up with him talking about Good vs. Wack hip-hop. If anything does happen, it should be for the better. But Ice-T finally realized he made a fool of himself in that first video.

Souljah Boy cant, but he represents whats wrong/ruining hip hop. And that is a lack of balance. Throughout time there always been Souljah boys. The difference? You had other artists who balanced it out. You didnt have this "I gotta get mine" attitude that is rampant in the industry. When your work/material is questioned you're quick to tell me how much money you made. As if it holds any relevance. Record companies love cash cows like Souljah Boy so they look to exploit them even if its 1 and done. Move on to the next, afterall its all about the dollar dollar bill yall.
Balance kills hip hop cuz back then Souljah Boys of the world wouldnt dominate the radio/tv. You get a dose of everything...which is why people tend to point/look back to when hip hop had that variety. Like the box of granola bars...you could pick n choose. Now? We got the apple, marshmellow box and thats all.

:applause: Real talk right here. But I think Ice was wrong to single out Soulja Boy like that. Should've addressed the entire situation rather than pinning the blame on one rapper who's too young to know any better. Now grown ass dudes like Shawty Lo? Those are the guys he should've told to eat a dick.

Why can't guys like Ice-T just ignore Soulja Boy and rappers like that? So what if the radio only plays pop-rap. How many people actually even listen to the radio anymore? Don't like 97% of rap fans have I-Pods, which is why they are trying to sell just one single anyway? Why not just forget about these pop rappers and make and listen the kind of rap you like? For years I only listened to guys like Brother Ali, Little Brother, Murs, Slug, and Aceyalone. Then I started hearing about Soulja Boy and I downloaded the album, and it was actually pretty good. It reminded me being a kind and listening to Naughty By Nature, Will Smith, and even Snoop. That was party music you could just jam to all summer. Soulja Boy is the exact same thing.

:applause: A reppable post. The radio sounds the way it does because only tweens , teens, and kids listen it. If you want "quality" music quit *****ing and get on the web and fill you Ipod.

thats what people are doing right now.... Runnin to their I-pods so they dont have to listen to the bullsh*t on the radio and on tv..If you was around when Hip hop was still good music then yeah this new sh*t makes you mad because because you gotta retreat deeper and deeper into into the past in order to hear some good music... Landscape today is full of garbage like soulja boy... If you was actually a rapper, a pioneer like Icet no less, you would be pissed off to see the kind of crap your favorite music has turned into...
people are tired of ignoring it.. they want some quality acts to come out... they want rappers to stop pimping themselves by putting out garbage...hip hop is a f*ckin joke anymore...
clowns like 50 cent beefing on radio and youtube like a bunch of hoes.... Soulja boy jumping around sounding like a jackass, and he brings nothing... its a waste of tape... people like to dance whatever, but pioneer rappers who put real effort and birthed hip hop are really disappointed in the mindless BS they got going on today...

the only part of your post i disagree with is the bolded part. there's a lot of good hip hop music, you just have to go underground to hear it. the best rappers nowadays aren't getting shine on the radio/tv/etc. interestingly, things seem to be heading in the other direction in terms of producers. a lot of underground cats are either ghost- or actually producing tracks for established artists. dudes like madlib, black milk, illmind, even waajeed (who 99% of people haven't heard of) have produced mixtape/album joints for 50 cent and g-unit. pete rock producing for jim jones
apart from that minor point, you're spot on. not saying that all the stuff on the radio is BS, but 90% of it is. i'll listen to anything with open ears (i'm a music freak, i'll bump anything if it appeals), but i just can't get into the stuff on the whole.
as gobb said (and i said in the other ice-t thread), hip hop lacks balance, especially in the mainstream: too much party music/lack of substance. the thing that makes it worse is that many artists (even those on independent labels) perceive this imbalance and end up putting out similarly wack shit as a result.
The problem I have with most hip-rop today, is that there are no creative lyrics. We hear the same "soulja boy blah blah blah.." about 30 times in one song. And its not just him, its a lot of people. I haven't turned on my radio in months because of this ****.

I just bought a satellite radio a few months ago, and I haven't listened to local FM radio since then. It's the same songs every hour...hell, you'll hear the same songs played three or four times within two hours. Here in Los Angeles, the main urban/hip-hop stations are going away from more of the traditional stuff, and playing the party club music put out by the likes of Flo Rida, Shawty-Lo, The Dream, and Soulja Boy, and even 50's club ****. That, plus reggaeton, is what dominates the local airwaves (add in the fact that most of Los Angeles is Latino/Hispanic now, and the black population here is shriking).
Anywho...although I'll agree with Ice-T, he shouldn't have just singled out Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris. Hip-hop in general has changed, and not for the better. First off, you can look at too many R&B/rap collobrations (thank Irv Gotti for that), and then you get these artists who do more of traditional hip-hop collobrating with dance club DJs, and these record companies who are more concerned about profit instead of quality, just eat it all up. Even though I'm 28, I love old school hip-hop, and that's alll I basically have in my music collection, although I got some newer joints like "Hip-Hop Police" by Chamillionaire, "Kick Push" by Lupe Fiasco, "Flashing Lights" by Kanye West, and "Be a ******" by Nas. You can call Soulja Boy wack and garbage (which I agree with), you gotta blame the record companies for putting it out, and the dumbasses who love and listen to crap music (pop rap).
