How has he stepped up in the playoffs? The only thing i saw him do against the Spurs this year is choke, by getting into foul trouble and missing easy finishes that are for easy for him.

Besides the intimidation factor, Yao isn't that good of a defender. I'll take Amare over Yao and Dwight RIGHT NOW for the simple fact that Amare is a decent defender, but he is an absolute beast on the offensive end. I don't care how good of a defender you are, if you can't score, because if defense is the deciding factor, then Camby and Ben Wallace are among the top 5. That is also the same reason to why I'd take Elton as Elton is one of the few ELITE 2-Way big men in the league. If given the chance, he can take the game over on both sides, something I don't see Yao, Dwight or Bosh doing consistently.

You have nothing to back up your talk. Neither Yao or Dwight are all-world defenders so there advantage there doesnt beat the advantage Amare has on offense and Amares performances in the playoffs.

You dont know this. You can bring up the fact that Amare has played in a high tempo offense his whole career but hes also been put in a disadvantage by being put in a offensive system that goes by the energy of the ball instead of getting it consistently to your best scorer.

I have to disagree. Amare's athleticism allows him to be a better rebounder, scorer (has developed a good jumper + dunks) and shot blocker, but considering Yao's athletic deficiencies, it's not a MASSIVE gap as some people imply.

And I've got to say I wasn't very impressed by Stoudemire's defence, I remember watching a Suns-Rockets game, and Scola went for 19 points. I was impressed by Stoudemire's offense, going for 38 points (http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=-flOgCKQ19A) but can't say was very impressed with his defence.

I said it allows him to be a better rebounder, and you can't deny that being able to jump 10 more inches means that it restricts you from being a better rebounder. Besides, Yao is more of a phone booth rebounder, while guys with great athletism (like Howard, Garnett, Chandler) try to get every rebound possible.
