CHICAGO (AP) ― A publicist says Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor and comedian Bernie Mack has died at age 50.

Publicist Danica Smith says Bernie Mac died early Saturday at a hospital in the Chicago area of complications due to pneumonia.

The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs, but he had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently had been hospitalized and treated for pneumonia.

Mac had starring roles in "Ocean's Eleven," "Bad Santa," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Transformers."

The comedian drew critical and popular acclaim with his Fox television series "The Bernie Mac Show," which aired more than 100 episodes from 2001 to 2006.

Well I think they had no idea about what they were doing because the guy suffered from Lung Disease in 2005, his lungs would most likely be weaker than the average man. But they never think about it till it's to late.

Well, he had lung cancer a few years ago I think. And he had some genetic disease. I can't look at it right now, but I think that had something to do with it.

I just found out the news watching the Bud Biliken parade on WGN, and Al Sharpton pretty much broke the news on the air.

Bernie was one of my favorite comedians...him and Cedric KILLED in that Kings of Comedy film. My Bernie Mac scene was in House Party 3, when he and the parents of Kid's fiancee were going back and forth...too funny.

Exactly, I read about this on the net. They said he was feeling good and going to be released within the next few weeks. It's also sad, pathetic, and embarrassing that people were joking around a week ago with the rumor that he had died. Now he really did die, so sad and so young.
