Crazy huh? I already knew that but thanks for sharing...
You could decline the option to give access to your personal info.
Iphone, lol.
So... the phone essentially creates a record of where you are when you uploading the picture? And since most people upload to facebook/twitter/instagram from their phone the minute they snap a pic, it's implying location based on pic.
But I'm guessing it would be fine if you took an album full of pics, transferred that into your computer and uploaded that way?

no it creates a GPS record of where you are the very second you take the picture...your phone does it, and it is extremely precise, even capable of pinpointing the exact room you are in
you have to turn the setting OFF on your phone
Yeah most new phones have this setting turned on by default. I saw it but didn't care much until my wife made me turn it off.

No geotagging data is embedded into the photo itself, has nothing to do with how its uploaded.
This is how panoramio works.

who keeps the GPS setting on... that shiet drains battery
but then again its already too late for these warning, once something is on the internet its near impossible to delete it if someone really wanted access to them.
Wait is this satire? What sort of news report is this? Talk about fear mongering.
It reminds me of that South Park episode where the parents eventually send their kids into the wilderness to protect them from themselves.
Additionally it is basically advertising this is possible...
Good for people wanting to get rid of their kids without repercussion though.
Well now the ladies know where to find me.
Most people are idiots when it comes to anything with technology, so it doesn't surprise me that most people don't know what geo-tagging is and that they can turn it off.
There's an app that's been out for a few years displays nearby Facebook, Twitter, and other social media users.
Creepy/stalkerish app
http://cynapse.com/localscope/
I initially got this app as a way to find out where nearby restaurants, gas stations, banks, etc.etc were located. But it also shows you where Facebook and other social media users are located. It pinpoints their exact distance and location which is very creepy.
