Top 5 slashers in history
I rank them in this order:
1) Michael Jordan
2) Dwayne Wade
3) Lebron James
4) Grant Hill
I don't know who to put for 5th. Nobody jumps out at me unless I'm missing someone obvious. Maybe McGrady, Iverson, Kobe or Vince for those few years. Even though Lebron is stronger, bigger, just as fast and just as athletic as Wade and Jordan, he lacks their finesse, creativity and artistry in attacking the rim which counts for something but he makes up for that with his brute strength, speed and freakish athleticism.
Re: Top 5 slashers in history
lebron gets to the rim with greater frequency and shoots a much higher percentage than wade one he gets there. :facepalm
Re: Top 5 slashers in history
Jordan
Wade
Everyone else
Re: Top 5 slashers in history
Iverson, Tony Parker maybe, not top 5 ever but pretty damn good.
Re: Top 5 slashers in history
MJ
Drexler
Wade
Lebron
Erving
Worthy
Re: Top 5 slashers in history
Are you talking about the ability to drive frequently, or who is the best at driving when they get the opportunity to do it.
Re: Top 5 slashers in history
best ones I can think of, no order
Jordan
Wade
Erving (best finisher ever in my book)
LeBron
Iverson
Drexler
David Thompson
Pip
Carter
Wilkins
Baylor
Worthy
......
Some on the list clearly better than some of the others though.

Lebron scores more frequently at the rim because he leads the league in fast-break scoring, that doesn't mean he's a better slasher than Wade.
Can Lebron do this as frequently as Wade? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW3dD9CbaxI&hd=1

lebron was getting to the rim more and shooting much higher percentages when he was in cleveland playing on some of the slowest teams in the league. operating almost exclusively in the half-court. what are you talking about?
and using YT videos as your argument. really?
Re: Top 5 slashers in history
Wade is better at penetration than LeBron. LeBron gets there yeah, but Wade is quicker at going by defenders, crossing them up, splitting the pick and roll, etc. All things that go into "slashing"

What's wrong with using YT videos? If this thread was called "top 5 dunkers in history", what would be wrong about posting VC or MJ videos? I brought up transition scoring because you brought up percentages at the rim. Lebron is a better open court player than Wade, so wouldn't that affect their "at the rim" percentages?

Wade was definitely not faster going to the hoop. Lebron at his fastest in Cleveland was close to Derrick Rose level with straight line explosion to the hoop.
Wade is more agile and shifty though on his drives ...maybe the best ever in that regard.

Whaaaaaaaaaaat? Do you not remember him during his 3rd season where he went on to win the FMVP? Dude was blowing by people, doing whatever he wanted to. In 08-09 he kind of got back to that, and I still think he has the speed in him.
