Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
Here we go with the whole "This happens every single year where someone count the Spurs out." argument.
Alright, I get it, they almost won last year. But I'm not talking about the Heat or the Finals, I'm talking the team they would have undoubtedly played in the 2013 WCF (just like in 2012) if Westbrook hadn't been injured: OKC.
The Spurs, over the course of the last two years, have not played well against the OKC. Yes, they had Harden in 2012, but since then OKC has beat them in several regular season games, sometimes by big margins.
But forget records. Let's just talk basketball. What is it about the Spurs that suggest that they would have beat OKC last year with healthy Westbrook? I don't understand this. And this year, OKC is younger, faster, with a top 2 player currently playing historically well, an improved Ibaka, a Westbrook who we have no reason to believe won't be completely back into the groove of things by the playoffs, and a bench playing very well and makes up for Harden's loss.
Forget everything else. How can the Spurs beat OKC in a 7 game series? I don't think they can. And because they can't, they are not contenders.

It doesn't matter for the spurs becuz okc won't even be able to make it past rirst round vs. Memphis... Real talk

I assume this is a response to the people saying you overlooked the Spurs as a contender?
Let's get one thing straight: the Spurs probably can't beat OKC...but does that mean the Spurs are no longer contenders?
What if OKC loses before the WCF?

Same with Rockets. Either Dirk or Zbo/Gasol needs to do us a favor and get rid of OKC in the first round.
Dirk is Dirk. Zbo/Gasol should neuter Ibaka/Goatkins.

Dirk isnt that Dirk. And the Grizzlies shouldnt have fired Hollins.
Re: Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
I don't think the Spurs can beat OKC over 7. Someone else might be able to beat OKC though and open the door for San Antonio like last year.
Re: Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
who knows clips could knock OKC out first...
Re: Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
Step 1 - Be the Spurs.
Step 2 - Continue to next round
Re: Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
ahh yes ISH's annual let's downplay and ignore the Spurs as a playoff contender thread
Re: Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
they cant, unless leonard locks down durant
Re: Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
The Spurs were up 2-0 in the 2012 WCF against OKC and would have won if not for some questionable officiating. The Spurs team ball is perfect for defeating OKC assuming the refs are fair, which unfortunately is not the case.
Re: Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
In your other thread, you said the Rockets matter, and the Spurs don't.
Do you seriously believe that the Rockets have a better shot at OKC than a healthy Spurs team?
Re: Explain to me how the Spurs can beat OKC in a 7-game series.
they do it by winning 4 games before OKC.
