Marc Stein: Cavs, Rockets target Corey Brewer
Story posting now: ESPN sources say Wolves in active trade discussions on veteran swingman Corey Brewer with contenders Cavs and Rockets

Both Cavs/Rockets have trade exception big enough to absorb Corey Brewer's contract so might only have to surrender draft pick(s) to get him
"Minnesota is believed to be seeking future assets in exchange for Brewer as it tries to accelerate its rebuilding effort in the wake of trading star power forward Kevin Love to the Cavaliers in August. Both Cleveland and Houston possess a trade exception large enough to absorb Brewer's $4.7 million salary, meaning that both teams would likely be able to acquire Brewer by merely surrendering future draft compensation and without giving up any key players."

Interesting. Kevin and Brewer had some pretty good chemistry last season.

It's being reported that teams acquiring Brewer (namely Rockets & Cavs) want him to waive his player option for 2015-2016 to remain as flexible as possible next summer. Just something to monitor. I'm guessing Morey has a hard condition on that, whereas Cavs may be more flexible, even though Brewer's salary may keep them from engaging in S&Ts next summer.

Interesting.. That means the Cavs would then have LeBron, Marion, Miller, Brewer AND James Jones. all SFs.

Brewer can play SG as well, actually is listed as one. At least on ESPN.

James Jones only gets garbage time minutes and I have a feeling they're saving Miller for the second half of the season and the playoffs. He hasn't gotten really any burn at all yet, which is smart.
Marion and Brewer are both very versatile. Marion can play the 3 in big sets and even some PF when we go small. Brewer can play the 2 or the 3 depending on the group that it is out there and the opponent.
More and more, it is becoming a positionless game. The more versatile your roster, the better. Adding another long wing is a luxury for this team. It's just a bonus that he seemed to have such good chemistry with Love. Brewer was also one of the best transition wings in the league last year.
He'd fit in very well.
Re: Marc Stein: Cavs, Rockets target Corey Brewer
I hope to god the Rockets get Brewer.
He'd be a good player for us when they want to play fast and furious. Brewer is one of the best at playing the fastbreak. He's going to get you at least 6 super easy PPG just on sheer hustle and speed leaking out.
Re: Marc Stein: Cavs, Rockets target Corey Brewer
Brewer would be a better starter at SG then Shawn Marion. like the cavs need more help lmao.
Kyrie Irving / Matthew Dellevadova
Corey Brewer / Dion Waiters / Joe Harris
LeBron James / Mike Miller
Kevin Love / Shawn Marion
Andy V / Tristan Thompson
haha wow i'm sure that second unit could get 30 wins in the east.

Problem with Brewer he he doesn't shoot the three well at all. Joe Harris does that right now. He's defending decently and shooting those threes.

Yeah but can Joe Harris score 50 points in a game while also making LeBron look like he has a good hairline?

Harris is going to be the starter here regardless of what happens with Brewer, imo. His skillset is that of a 3&D guy. When you have Kyrie, LeBron, Love and Varejao, that last wing spot needs to be able to shoot to maintain the spacing. Brewer will be a great utility guy off the bench with Dion, Marion, Thompson and Delly.
Mike Miller probably won't be much of a factor until later in the season. I love the look of our second unit with the addition of Brewer.
Re: Marc Stein: Cavs, Rockets target Corey Brewer
Rather the Cavs go after another big.

Is there any shot that the Cavs would move Almundson in order to take in some more salary? Wonder what the Bucks want for Henson. His MPG are half as much as last season and a shade under what he averaged his rookie season. Played 6 minutes or less in 3 of last 5 games. Adding Henson + Brewer could be huge for this team's depth.
