Why is 9/11 one of the only events named after a date?
You know I was thinking about this. Is it a coincidence that 9/11 happened on that day? 9-1-1? What if the event happened a day earlier or later? Could you imagine anyone saying 9/10?
There's July 4th.. But we don't call Christmas 12/25 or New Years 1/1. Why don't we say Happy 1/1?
There's no other name for 9/11? That's not really a name. That's a date. Unless the numbers of the date have a meaning.
Don't you find that a little bit suspect? That there's no name for that day?

There's Cinco De Mayo and July 4th so it's not that rare.

Senate Rep Greene yesterday - "9/11 really happened"
Huh - who elected this dumb bitch confessing 20 years after the fact that it really happened :confusedshrug:

What would you propose we call it doofus, “The attack on the WTC, the Pentagon, and the one that crashed in Pennsylvania”
Re: Why is 9/11 one of the only events named after a date?
I am totally fine with renaming it "The Day the Muslims attacked our way of life"
Re: Why is 9/11 one of the only events named after a date?
A unique and valid topic by Walk on Water. Because we never really think about why 911 is referred to by its date, but there has to be a reason. And now thanks to Walk on Water we might get to the bottom of it.
I think it's because events like Christmas or Halloween didn't just happen out of nowhere. These are actual celebrations that were pre planned and publicly created by people. Where 911 just came all of sudden on one random day. Everybody experienced it at once, while Christmas was planned by a few.
It suddenly happened to tens of millions of people, and thus the date became its name by default.
I think the real question is why Cinco de Mayo is named after the date. July 4th, well that is called Independence Day.
Out of the Loop is the debut album by American synthpop duo I Am the World Trade Center, released on July 17, 2001. Less than two months later, it gained some controversy after the September 11 attacks[citation needed], due to both the band's name and the coincidental title of their 11th track, "September." The band was seen as gathering shameless attention out of the attacks when in actuality Out of the Loop was released prior to them.
