California's Mask Mandate Ends - How long until Covid cases skyrocket?

Mask mandates have officially ended in 49/50 states (Hawaii still has one) and movie theaters are packed with people seeing The Batman.

So the question is, how long until cases spike in the US? California?

Isn't the consensus that Omicron and all future variants will become less deadly, just like the Spanish Flu? We don't even offer testing here anymore and cases no longer matter.

All they look at are hospitalizations now.

When the Omicron hit it was known that it was very mild. But what did they do? They promoted it as the winter of death. The NYC mayor used the opportunity to force everyone to get vaccinated, else they can't make a living. (I know this girl that was vaccine injured directly because she was forced to get the shot.) Get injected with the vaccine for a virus from two years ago, for the new Omicron which is significantly different. And we must vaccinate the kids.

So what I'm saying is that I don't think that the Omicron being milder has anything to do with it, but rather the data dump from Pfizer that they tried to keep the lid on for 75 years. If it's going to show that thousands of people have gotten injured because of the vaccines, (VAERS already shows that) and things of that nature, then anyone pushing the vaccine at all cost will want to change their tune well beforehand.

I mean, it seems like one week they're talking about the Omicron, it's going to kill you, the next, it's mild, different countries suddenly stopping with the mask mandates, etc.

It's only a of time when poopsie exposes us all

Did every single variant of the alpha Spanish Flu become less deadly as time went on?

"All they look at are hospitalizations." When did that occur? And btw, we have more people in the hospital with Covid-19 now than we did for most days between July - October 2020.

Finally, with statewide mask mandates ending in 49/50 states and mask compliance decreasing, how long until Covid cases skyrocket?

Hopefully never, but if the Dems somehow manage to hold on to Congress, then they will spike after midterms.

From my understanding, viruses usually mutate to become less deadly but more contagious.. which kinda makes sense considering people were literally dropping dead in China when Covid19 was 1st being reported.

Hospitalizations might be still on the higher side but considering how many people have Omicron, the percentages of being getting infected and hospitalized are drastically lower compared to the 1st few waves.

I think cases will skyrocket in the fall / winter but hopefully by then, it'll be a variant that is even less severe than Omicron.

I know several vaccinated + boosted folks who tested positive for Covid-19 while unvaccinated folk living with them never tested positive. How does that happen? Asked ID/ICU docs, nobody knows. :lol

They won't and if they do then who cares at this point. Covid is just basically the flu. It's time to go back to living normal lives. I'll never ever complain about wearing a mask if I have to and if I'm around someone that's clearly sick/old, but I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't ****ing tired of wearing masks. We've been putting up with this shit for 2 years now. It feels really good to know that now you can go to gyms/restaurants/theaters without wearing a mask and following the 6 feet apart rule. Places are opening up again and cases have been drastically down. Slowly but surely we're going back to living lives from pre-covid again.

You said "all they look at are hospitalizations." I asked when did that occur, so please respond. And again, what you're saying is that cases are higher, which means it is more prevalent, so people are more likely to catch Covid-19 - wouldn't this be more of a reason to wear a mask indoors?

Why won't cases spike again in two weeks if 49/50 states have ended their statewide mask mandates and movie theaters are packed full again (ie people are going back to "living normal lives")?

In Ontario, they don't look at cases anymore. In fact, they won't even let us get tested.

I'm guessing cases will go up in the Fall because that's cold and flu season. When the weather gets colder, people spend more time indoors.
