If no one is going to play the preseason back-to-backs why have them?
Watched five seconds of a Celtic starting five of:
G-Payton Pritchard
G-Lonnie Walker
F-Sam Hauser
F- Forgot Already
C-Neemias Queta
*title*
The only reason to watch that game is to see if Pritchard is capable of scoring 50.

Pre season Games across all sports serve little purpose other than lining owners pockets for an inferior product. The NFL is worst of all. Extremely high chance of injury so nobody plays much but they are included in season ticket packages and charge the same as they do for a regular game. They don’t give you the option of paying less by excluding the preseason games either.
The various unions had to fight to get the numbers as low as they are now because back in the day teams would schedule as many exhibition games as they felt like because the players weren’t paid for them, but they charged fans the same amount to come see them. Teams had 20 free exhibitions at times in the 60s.
if I remember correctly, it was one of the issues Oscar Robertson forced the league to negotiate about when he got the players in the 1964 All-Star game that was gonna be the first one televised to refuse to come out and play if the demands weren’t met on the spot.
Him and Jerry West just told the league they were going to ruin the bit coming out party and walk out so the league had to make some concessions and I think preseason issues was among them.
Players saw Oscar wasn’t ****ing around and made him the union head and he was suing the nba and ABA for free agency a few years later.
Those early players had to do all the hard work for these spoiled current guys to benefit.

Sure it's a money grab. But I'm not saying they shouldn't play the games at all, just give the normal 1 to 3 days off between games so that we don't get this many total joke contests.
Re: If no one is going to play the preseason back-to-backs why have them?
It’s the pre-season. They are all joke contests. (Hell, a fair bit of the regular season is that way now).
The point of these games is for the guys who are on the bubble, either might be on the team or not, or might be in the rotation or not. The stupid thing is that fans go to see these games, and they get broadcast. If the League makes more money from idiots, what’s the big deal?

Because if there is a break between games stars are more likely to play so that the fans get something for their money. If the Cs had two days off there's a real chance they put starters out there for 20 minutes.Back-to-backs really only make sense for when scheduling conflicts force teams to do them. Preseason is like 3 weeks for 4 games.

Some of us didn't need to watch the game to figure that out.

Some of us are intelligent enough to recognize a joke.

Yes, and some can recognize sarcasm in reply to a joke.

Why do you say no one is playing? There are players on the court.

Barring a 10 game conference lead or tragedy the team in OP will not start a single game in the regular season.

I remember pre season games in the 90s, the NBA Champs would play some Euro Team for a championship game.
