How did MJ get so comfortable taking Big Deke?

Seems like he never hesitated to take Mutombo off the dribble and power to the basket.

I understand MJ was aggressive in general but it seems like he especially relished the opportunity to get right up on Big Deke. His tongue would stick out and you could see his determination to get up and down quickly.

Despite Mutombo's propensity for blocks, MJ never allowed Mutombo to make use of his famous finger. He went at Deke right from the tip.

It's sort of ironic really. Even tho Lebron was the more dominant player overall, he never seemed that interested in taking Deke. Whereas MJ loved it.

Can't argue with any of this.

Lebron wasn't interested in that kind of direct penetration. He avoided Deke yet was still more dominant.

When MJ saw big Deke on the floor his only thought was to get right up on him and take him, right from the tip.

Hard. No hesitation.
