An unemployed son impersonated his dead mother to collect thousands of euros a year from her pension in what Italian authorities have dubbed a “Mrs. Doubtfire scandal,” according to local reports.
The 56-year-old man, who was not identified, carried out the ruse after his mom died three years ago as he concealed her mummified corpse at their family home, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported.
The con artist’s mother, Graziella Dall’Oglio, passed away at 82 years old and her son never reported her death.
He instead stuffed her corpse in a sleeping bag and stashed it in the laundry room at their home, the outlet reported.
By the time authorities found Dall’Oglio, her body had mummified, according to the reports.
All the while, her son meticulously impersonated each detail of his mother down to her makeup and continued to cash her pension. He was even able to renew her identity card at a government office on the outskirts of Mantua after her death, the outlet reported.
With his mother’s pension and a property portfolio of three houses, the son was able to pocket roughly $61,000 annually, according to the newspaper.
Authorities said he underwent a “Mrs. Doubtfire-style transformation,” in reference to the 1993 flick in which Robin Williams plays a recently divorced comedian who opts to pose as the perfect housekeeper in order to see his children while trying to ward off his ex’s new beau.
But an eagle-eyed government employee finally picked up on his scheme after noticing his apparently “masculine” features, including his low voice and “thick” neck, the outlet reported.
The employee notified authorities, who compared photos of Dall’Oglio and her son and realized he’d been conning them.
The son allowed authorities to search his home, where they uncovered Dall’Oglio’s body, though officials didn’t suspect any foul play contributed to her death.
This is one of the wildest/creepiest stories I've seen in a while. It's like Mrs. Doubtfire, the Talented Mr. Ripley & Psycho all rolled into one story.

I guess reporting her death and collections wasn’t an option?
Re: Man dressed up as dead mother to collect her pension
Due to the truce, I stopped myself from saying that even though I could never see Axe doing such a thing to his mother (she provides him with so much), I could 100% see him dressing up like an 80 year old woman, just to walk around in public, for fun. He just loves alts, and not just on ISH, but even in his real life.
We're supposed to be in a truce, but he's been acting up, and I don't want to censor myself.

Re: Man dressed up as dead mother to collect her pension
If anyone else on ish could pull off cross dressing as an old lady it’s highwhey. He already has the body type of a fat abuela. Give him a wig and a poncho and he’s good to go :lol

It never ceases to amaze me how I can be minding my own business, contributing HIGH-LEVEL analysis to the board, and you somehow find a way to insert me into a thread about a cross-dressing lunatic living with a corpse.
I ignored your PATHETIC cry for attention yesterday where you were rambling about "bots" and "mental health". I didn't even dignify it with a response because, frankly, I try to ignore you as best I can, knowing that you have SIGNIFICANT developmental challenges, but you just keep poking the bear because you're desperate for any kind of interaction.
Do you realize how pathological that is?
You see a story about a man so desperate and dependent on his mother's income that he literally becomes her, and your first instinct is to project that onto me? It's classic psychological displacement. You're the one living at home, relying on your parents to finance your existence. You're the one who poses in trucks parked in your parents' driveway to try and impress strangers on the internet.
The reality is, you brought this up because it's a subconscious admission of your own helplessness.
Get a hobby, piggy. This OBSESSION is unhealthy.
