Join me for a moment in the weeds and tell me what you think about this play.
I’ve almost completely lost patience and interest and a lot of the forms basketball talk takes online these days, but I’ve been getting into the little things. The minutia if you’d like to be a douche bag about it…which I’ve never minded. So I’m gonna do that in here until I lose this topic which…probably won’t be long. First up…
what are your feelings on the Gortat screen? If that’s an unfamiliar term or something you know by another phrase… It’s basically where a big man sees a guard driving and clears his path with what would normally be a moving screen, but it’s disguised as a genuine attempt to post up or box out for the eventual attempt. Its much older than Gortat, but he did a lot and it stuck to him

Pretty clear what’s happening there. It is a moving screen you just can’t prove it. Karl Malone used to do it. Barkley. Lots of post up prone guys. Just clear a path somewhat illegally but you can’t prove intent.
Anyway one of them was noticed recently and people are annoyed of course…

so tell me assembled basketball sickos(if you can pry yourself away from legacy talk for a couple minutes)…

just another unfair advantage for the offense? Something that should be cracked down on? Smart play?
Re: Join me for a moment in the weeds and tell me what you think about this play.
I blame the defender's laziness. Most moving screens are not called because of laziness and/or unwillingness to put their body on the line.

Its in that gray area of it sucks when it's done to your team, but at the same time if you can capitalize on it why not? Kinda feel like Bogut carried on the legacy for a few years too, but he admitted he could get away with clotheslining guys to free up Steph or Klay lol.
