Curry winning a chip before KD is a terrible narrative
We all know Curry only won in 2015 because Love and Kyrie were hurt.
KD in 2012, 3 years before Curry sniffed the finals, faced the 2012 Heat FULLY healthy.
If KD had Curry's luck, where Bosh and Wade were injured in the finals, then KD would have won in 2012 just like Curry.
The people saying Curry won a chip before KD got there are not thinking at all. We all saw Curry simply couldn't match Lebron in 2015/2016 and he/Draymond legit cried for KD to come join them...and then KD went on to win 2 FMVPs in a row on Curry's head.
Re: Curry winning a chip before KD is a terrible narrative
almost no one takes curry over the GOATs for this reason, he was a major beneficiary of injury riddle competition. the 2016 Cavs comeback pretty much destroyed all of his accomplishments.
Re: Curry winning a chip before KD is a terrible narrative
Curry won a ring before and after KD.
How many playoff series has KD won since leaving Curry and picking his teammates? Maybe 2?

Re: Curry winning a chip before KD is a terrible narrative
Losing in the finals with a 73-win team is embarrassing.

I already showed you the "Curry won a ring before KD" thing is dumb narrative. KD could've easily won in those cirumstances.
Even if Curry won after KD left, KD still got 2 FMVPs in a row and legit would've had a 3rd in a row if he didn't get injured in the 2019 playoffs.
Curry still only has 1 FMVP.

What's REALLY embarrassing is being a stinky idiot.

Swap out Jordan with Lebron for all their teams and Jordan wins at least 12 rings. Lebron wins zero - maybe 1.
But the fact is, Curry's won without KD. KD hasn't won without Curry.

Re: Curry winning a chip before KD is a terrible narrative
Curry is the greatest offensive player ever with the largest gravity ever. Kevin Durant is a better defender but his defense doesn't come close to making up for that fact.
People who assign awards are boxscore watching retards, which in itself is fine, but at least admit it.
Nobody could actually watch those guys during the mid and late 2010s and believe Durant was better than Curry.
Re: Curry winning a chip before KD is a terrible narrative
Circumstances are part of the game whether we like it or not. Curry had a favorable run in 2015, while KD had a more difficult run.
Still doesn't change the fact that Curry won before KD.
KD had an opportunity to change any narrative around him if he managed to win one more game in 2016 when up 3-1. Then after that, he ran to Curry with his tail between his legs.
Re: Curry winning a chip before KD is a terrible narrative
The Warriors won 67 games and yes, their playoff run was extremely easy, even before the Finals, but they still did win the championship. Then they broke the all time win record and came within 1-2 plays of winning another championship, while knocking out KD to boot. Let's also not forget they won 6 playoff games in a row when KD went down in 2019.
Then after KD dipped the Warriors won yet another championship, and Curry sonned the Celtics who forced KD into the worst series of his career. Meanwhile, despite handpicking his teams and playing with various stars, KD hasn't made it past the 2nd round in 6 years since leaving the Warriors.
Clinging to injuries from one series doesn't change all the overwhelming evidence listed above. You take away the Warrior years, and KD's resume, for an ATG/top 20 player, honestly leaves a little to be desired.

This gets left out of the conversation. It was KD and co that lost to GSW, giving up a 3-1 lead. Then, KD leaves, forms another superteam, and still doesn't see the success that Steph saw.
On paper it doesn't show it, but Steph's performance against Boston in 2022 was iconic given how great that team was defensively, especially the run up they had in the last 41-42 games of the season. IIRC, they were something like 32-10 in those games and their net rating was ridiculous given how great they were playing defensively.
Steph comes along and posts a quiet 31/6/5/2 on 63% TS% and it doesn't really stand out, but how many people had that kind of success against an elite defender like Marcus Smart?
