Who has the prettier jumpshot form, Kobe or MJ?

please don't start any kobe/MJ arguments, this is just about their forms and nothing else

I kinda think KB tried to learn his shooting form from MJ but his left hand is a little higher but I gotta say MJ is nicer but its about the same

We've already had a million debates on the subject of who is better....people need to relax, and answer the simple question.


My answer: Jordan. Loved his fade away, just seemed so silky smooth when he did it.

yes, because i think kobe, mj, ray allen, mich richmond have the nicest jumpshots . I didnt want to put ray or mich because i know almost all of u would say ray's and richmond's are nicer, so i just put this, nothing bias. Lets see if ISH users can behave:oldlol: :oldlol:

Jordans jumpshot a little bit smoother, but they are quite similar - Kobe copied it after all. I would take Ray over both of them.

Jordan is a pretty good athlete you want to emulate. If you have the talent, and the tools to match Jordan's game in any way, you should definitely TRY.

Kobe shoots from a little more behind his head. Also MJ had better arch on his jumper, Kobe's J is far too flat sometimes.

Kobe's shot just looks a bit smoother to me, so I say Kobe.

Jordan's form circa 1996-97 was absolutely flawless.

I've noticed that Kobe shoots with the ball slightly further back as well, it might be because of arm length.

True, that creates illusion of his very long hang time. I remember once how defender jumped AFTER Jordan jumped, and descended BEFORE MJ. All Jordan had to do so it outhang in the air and score on the way down when defender couldnt contest the shot.

It's funny because I have tried to explain how these special players all have the same type of releases. Mj, Kobe, Wade. Lebron's shot looks nothing like theirs though which is why I don't think Lebron will ever have a great jump shot.

It's a specific thing about the form. It's something that not even Ray Allen or any shooter quite has.

I don't think this is the reason why he's got better arch on his jumper. Mike Bibby for example barely jumps on his shots and has great arch.
It's a pure matter of shooting mechanics, which, IMO, MJ is better at.

i dont really give a rats ass about the form of the shot. as long as it goes in and is effective releasing it in front of a tight defender. Reggie had ugly form most would say and his shot was really effective.

MJ was more effective on it so therefore he wins.

Ray Allen can get his jumper off from as many positions off the dribble as both Kobe and Jordan can...

They look the same to me but Kobe's shot is more flat.

That and because Jordan gets much more lift on his shots. Kobe almost takes set-shots. He doesn't get a lot of lift on his jumpers.

Thought both are similar, MJ's jumpshot looks aesthetically better. Besides, Kobe has a tendency to flail his arms during the follow through.

Look at kobes neck almost dissapear and compare that with MJ's form.
