who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Last season was his most inefficient to date. He's definitely lost a step and is not the defender he once was. In my opinion, he and Nash are on about the same level at this point and Dwight is clearly the best player on the team.
Kobe shot 30% from 3 last season and I can definitely see that rebounding with the some more open looks from Nash and less late shot clock shots, but I also think his % on 2's will decline again. I also guarantee there are going to be noticeable issues with spacing in the Laker's offense next year courtesy of Mike Brown.

Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Howard is the second best in the league and Kobe is fourth so not me.
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
i don't think anyone thinks kobe is better than dwight at this point, but kobe will still be the leader of the team for sure
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Howard will be the best if he recovers well from the back surgery.
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Dwight when heathly is the 2nd best player in the league so no but Kobe is still a top 5-7 player even now.
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
I think for the Lakers to win Dwight has to be the main option. Kobe will still do his thing in the clutch but the offense must feed Dwight. I got a feeling Dwight might get MVP this season if he stays healthy watch.
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Regardless, Kobe still the man in LA.

Howard took thirteen shots a game as a first option with scrubs on his teams what makes you think that will increase playing with three other great offensive players?
Kobe will still take most shots and rightly so, Howard can still get his 13-14 shots and 10-11 FT a games and then be our defensive anchor.
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Not me. Dwight is the best player but it's still Kobe's team.
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
I think it's quite obvious that defensively he's the best player on the Lakers and the league. However I don't think he's necessarily better than Kobe , at least not offensively.
I need to see how the P&R functions with him and Nash , it was very functional with Hedo in Orlando + floor spacers, so with Gasol and Nash it could be something special.
I think he'll be the most influential player on the team and he's probably the best, but I have some problem in saying it outright due to how offensively limited he is.
I think Kobe steps into the Paul Pierce role this season so we'll see how much he takes a hit statistically, but if the Kobe I saw at the beginning of the year returns at any point in time I think he's the best.
He's clearly the most capable of carrying a team.

Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Kobe is better offensively
Dwight defensively
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
kobe and howard are both arguably the 3rd best player in the nba.. depends on whether you give the advantage to the player with the most efficiency or the most skill
to make a long story short
WHO CARES. theyre co-leaders for all i care
at the end of the day people who try and stir the pot need to realise that theyre just jealous butthurt haters that will pick at anything to somewhat be able to sleep at night
kobe is in his 17th year and already an established legend ...
so everything he gets from here on out is icing on the cake.
all i know is when the finals is over. more than likely kobe will get the nod for finals mvp due to the fact that he has the biggest green light to shoot in the league. he runs the show and has more pull than the coach

Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Top 5 nba players
1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Howard
4. Paul
5. Wade
Kobe isn't even top 5. He's not better than Westbrook either. He's in the pack with love, nowitzki, d. will, and bynum
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
Kobe.
Dwight still has to show me he can win at the highest level.
Putting up big numbers on a mediocre squad does not impress.
Leading your team to championships does.

Dwight got to the finals with scrubs. Kobe couldn't get out of the first round with scrubs. 23 year old Dwight>prime Kobe

How about leading your team with your second option being Rashard to the finals?

Dwights is a blackhole he's the exact same as Bynum on offence no way the offence should run through him. The Lakers offence and defense would be worse if Dwight is the 1st option. He's the only good defender in the starting line up so he should focus all his energy on making the Lakers the best defensive team in the NBA.

The Magic scrubs were also ridiculously hot against the Cavs in 08-09. Not so much in the Finals :oldlol:

Also this. You'll get no where with a Dwight centered offense
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
#3 & #4 players in the league IMO. Kobe will still lead and be the focal point in 4th quarters, but overall Dwight is the better player at this point. He may not have the offensive impact as Kobe but Howard is a beast defensively and on the boards.
Im hoping playing and practicing with Pau allows Dwight to develop more offensive post moves as well.
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
I have a hard time believing Kobe at this point is better than anyone but Davis on the USA team. Maybe James Harden too.
Dwight is quite easily the best player on this team and I'd bet Pau will be the 2nd.
Kobe just isn't that guy anymore.
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
not me.. i think a healthy dwight is the 2nd best player in the world, his impact on a team is ridicilous
-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
i think it's a wash imo. Yes Dwight is a beast defensively, but nobody is f*cking with Kobe when he gets it going offensively. People have to realize that last year they COMPLETELY changed from the triangle to a basic a$$ offense. He wasn't put in his spots that he likes that are in the triangle. Plus at the beginning of the year Brown asked Kobe to take on more of an offensive load.
Now that he won't have to focus on the facilitating duties, he can focus on his scoring, while bringing it on the defensive end. Don't forget the good D he played against Ty Lawson, D.Wade, and a few others last year.
Dwight's defense downlow will have more of an impact, but Kobe will still be mr 4th quarter/clutch all day.

Somebody isn't watching the games.
During the end of PJ's tenure, they weren't running the triangle all that much. They probably ran almost as much triangle last season as they did Phil's last year.

Harden, Iguodala, Love, Chandler, Melo, Deron. He and Westbrook are close. I think you're putting too much stock in a small olympic sample size.

I don't believe Kobe in his 17th season is better than Love, Deron, RWB...... And as much as I hate to admit it......... Melo.
I'm sorry, but time>Kobe

-
Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
I do. Kobe is the 1st option, da closer and leader.
Dwight is there to anchor da defense & be a 3rd banana. Pecking Order:
1.Kobe
2A Gasol/2B Nash
3.Dwight

Re: who thinks Kobe is still the best player on the Lakers?
I do. Dwight may be more efficient but Kobe's more skilled offensively, can impact a game just as much, and has more of a winning mentality. Dwight's more like Shaq before Phil coached him, but better defensively.
Efficiency is only PART of the game.
