let's say Steve Blake he's a good height, not too tall not too short.
He's only good at shooting 3's. So if you take away that, he's virtually useless right?

steve blake would light us all up. he is good enough to be in the nba, that makes him better than all of us

Blake would average 40ppg 0ast and 25rpg
If you and your snot nose friends played a NBA caliber player 5x5, he would dismantle your hearts, dreams, and aspirations of ever playing basketball again. You probably would not ever want to see another basketball in your life. He would deflate your little, "I'm on par with the elite athletes of the world", attitude faster than he would deflate the ball and yell, "SO WHO'S THE SCRUB NOW!"
These guys are professionals at what they do. The boundary between amateur and professional is extraordinary. They breath basketball.
this.
You would trash you to the point where you would never think about picking up a basketball again.
Ummm, yes. Clearly. Can tell you have never seen an NBA kat play in person.
They would light up D league, Euroleague (Anthony Parker = GOAT there), D1 college teams.
NBA players are the best of HS, the best of College, or other Pro Leagues.
They would do to your Rec League what Kyrie Irving did to UrkelBrook and OKC in the 4th quarter tonight.
They'd be swaggin all over you. I played with Will Bynum one time, and my god ... never seen such dominance in my life.
You are an idiot :applause:
Steve Blake the guy who led his team to a division 1 national championship and was a solid role player for mutliple years in the NBA?
Yeah he'd murk anybody and everybody in a rec league.
Question like these are stupid
The worst player in the NBA is the best player in the recreational league.
i bet you i could take lebron james 1 v 1
i bet you i could take lebron james 1 v 1
Only if you started off in the 4th quarter.

Just because he can only shoot 3's against NBA defenses does'nt mean he can't rain 3's on your head nor does that mean he can't rebound against you or your friends. He would chase down your layups like Lebron, Dunk on your head like KD because you can't get high enough to defend it. Face it, he's in the NBA and that makes him one of the best basketball players in the world.
If i got a dollar for every time someone asked this stupid question, i'd be a billionaire.
joel anthony averaged 50 points in college
My athleticism is damn near world class from a Track & Field standpoint.
I bet I could D up on some NBA scrubs. Put the clamps on JJ Barea.

It wouldnt matter how fast you are, because the "scrubs" would cross you over so hard you would tear your acl, mcl, and ur ****in ********.
Just because they are scrubs in the nba, does not mean they are good. Barea would cross you up so good, and besides, most NBA point guards, if not all, are world class athletisism
Delusional.
NBA players are among the one thousand best basketball players in the entire world. Steve Novak would push you around like a ragdoll and Steve Nash would make you think he's a Gary Payton-level defender.
im sure the majority of WNBA players would light us up.
This question again? :facepalm
im sure the majority of WNBA players would light us up.
This, it's crazy how professionals are disrespected. They are as good at basketball as surgeons are at operating, think about that...wanna step in and do a surgery? You'd be as lost on an NBA court

I've played against some d1 girls and I smoked them. The strength difference is too much to overcome. I was able to box out for every rebound or push them underneath the basket for literally every rebound. You feel really bad putting in effort.
And I'm only 6'. No disrespect, but let's not compare women athletes to men in a sport like basketball.
Some people just don't realize the excellence that is a professional athlete.
They are worlds beyond the rest of us in terms of what they are physically capable of doing.

Are you 12 years old?
I hope so for your sake, because this is a stupid thread and I don't say this lightly.
Not only would Blake destroy everybody there, he'd do it without much effort. I've played against players that got invited to try out for pro teams, and they obliterate everybody. Players that played a season or two overseas and are currently in their early 40s and are still faster, stronger, quicker, smarter than any 20 year old..... in their SANDALS!!!!
It Mark Jackson walked into most rec leagues or gyms, he'd be their MVP, YES coach Mark Jackson.
These guys are pros for a reason
Steve Blakes career high is 25pts (yeah nothing to go crazy about); can you drop 25 in an NBA game?? Bet most of us couldn't do that even in a D-league game

Wow...that was surprisingly bad basketball.
Jeremy Lin and his team went 9-0 in pick up games at a gym
Here is the video (@ 0:48 mark):

Yea, Steve Blake would destroy everyone. I played against a guy who was a starting guard for Florida International during the early 2000s and he smoked everyone, so if a guy like that can destroy in a rec league, I'm 100% sure anyone on an NBA roster can.
Any role player from a 3 point specialist down to the garbage man, will tear down any rec league.
Any role player from a 3 point specialist down to the garbage man, will tear down any rec league.
heck I went to college at a DII school and the best player of that team (who was good enough to play in a Holland pro league) "played" against the regular at the school rec center.
It was funny watching the other guys go hard knowing it was the player from the team, but the player just ran almost lethargically as if to say, "I'm here to break a sweat and get the blood flow moving and maybe make one layup."
And that's a NCAA DII player!
It's so tiring watching ISH members talk about how so and so "sucks"....
To even sniff a chance at an NBA roster as an undrafted free agent, it's brutal battle of will amongst those who have guaranteed contracts agaisnt those undrafted or second rounders. It's tough as hell.

Basketball fans aren't the smartest people :lol
When fans see players barely get playing time or playing badly, they probaly think "oh i can take him 1on1! derp!"
They don't think about the difficulty of even getting a contract or getting drafted :facepalm
joel anthony = prime wilt Chamberlain of rec league.
joel anthony = prime wilt Chamberlain of rec league.
Bo Outlaw used to demolish rec leagues and was dropping 40+ points at Venice Beach on a regular.
Now, that isn't to say that some cat from the streets can't give an NBA player the business. But those instances are extremely rare and that same dude aint gonna sniff an NBA team.
joel anthony = prime Mutombo of rec league.
If Brian Scal beats 3 rec-league caliber players, pret obv that Steve Blake would run rec league.
people need to stop making threads about this.
they are pro players. they would ruin us all.
/thread
You say that Steve Blake can only shoot threes but that's in comparison to other NBA players. In a rec game he could post up, pull of Dream shakes, shoot fadeaways, hit shots from all over the floor and do layups like MJ. He could do a lot more against amateur competition.

These weren't even regular rec league guys that Scal wrecked. One of them played D1, another two were D2 players, and the younger kid was walking on to a D1 team. Scal beat them all consecutively, but he was running out of steam at the end and only won 11-3 that last game.
