Re: New York Dropping like a Ratchet
IMO NY should drop a little so they can face CHI. Boston would eat them alive.
-
Re: New York Dropping like a Ratchet
Also, Brooklyn has it tough from here on out. Brooklyn plays 2 road games for every 1 home game, including a brutal western conference road trip.

Re: New York Dropping like a Ratchet
chicago is really third?
edit, i thought you were listing the real standings

Re: New York Dropping like a Ratchet
Brooklyn is playing its best basketball of the season. Deron averaging 23 and 8 since all-star break. Having them drop to 6 should have you banned from these forums and from life as well. Haters still hating.

"Dropping like a ratchet"? Never heard that one before.

Let's be honest for a second. Nets have beaten a bunch of poor/mediocre teams. Hornets twice,Hawks,Wizards,Bobcats.
Except from beating Atlanta they lost against every decent team they played (Sixers although they aren't really decent,Bulls,Mavs,Grizzlies,Rockets).
After the Hawks game tonight they have a 8 game road trip coming up and then have to face the Bulls at home. I don't see them going better than 5-5 on that 10 game stretch.

Every "poor" team you mentioned has beaten the Knicks. Except the bobcats because they haven't played the Knicks yet. Nice try though.
Nets will go 7-3 in that stretch.

What are you talking about ? You must be smoking some shit. Knicks beat the Bobcats on J.R.'s game winner. Knicks beat the Hawks on Melo's game winner. Knicks beat the Hornets twice. Only team that has beaten the Knicks are the Wizards.
And good luck going 7-3. Games against the Nuggets and Clippers are basically automatic losses. Jazz,Blazers and Mavs are fighting for a playoff spot,I don't think you'll be able to beat all of them them too.
5-5 is a realistic expectation. You could maybe go 6-4,maybe 7-3 at best. But I think 4-6 is more realistic than 7-3.
My prediction still stands,5-5.

Yes but the hornets have beaten the Knicks once this season.as have the wizards. And your bashing the Nets for beating these lowly teams when these lowly teams have beaten the Knicks once this season as wellness nets will be second in the East. That is all
They will be division champs for next five years.

What are you smoking man ? Hornets didn't beat the Knicks this season. You don't even know how to check the results.
I'm not bashing the Nets for beating the poor teams. You should be able to beat them. I'm just saying that if your best stretch of season is beating a bunch of nobodies then it's not something to be bragging about.
I still don't see why you think you'll go 7-3 on that 10 game stretch. You have an 8 game road trip (5 games are pretty tough) and 2 home games that aren't really easy. 5-5 it is. I wouldn't be surprised if they went 4-6 though.
I'm not saying the Nets won't win a division because there's a real chance that they will. I'm just saying that you're overrating your team like many of the fans tend to do. Knicks aren't good. Nets aren't good. There are no good teams in the East besides Miami. Put every 3-8 seed team from the East in the West and they would be fighting for the playoffs. And that's all.
I don't even care about the division. I just hope the Knicks will play well enough to get homecourt advantage in the playoffs and be healthy come playoff time.

Re: New York Dropping like a Ratchet
It is truly insane that the Celtics have played the way they've played and are three and a half games away from home court until the ECF.
Insane.
The East is either the model of parity or truly awful.

I'll help you with that one. The answer is truly awful.
There are no good teams in the East besides Miami.

I hated that loss to the bobcats, I thought a 15-6 end run was possible.

if these are the standings at the end of the season they would get by Boston, probably a 6 or 7 game series, but honestly there is no way they would beat Miami in the next round the way they are playing right now.
There in a tough spot because they haven't been full strength as a team all season (and won't be with Amar'e out). Now with the Melo injury it would be smart to rest him but tbh that would also pose them a risk of them sliding even further and having a tougher opponent in the first round.

Who is the tougher opponent?

Out of your mind if you think Bucks are not finishing 8th seed.

Re: New York Dropping like a Ratchet
Chicago has been starting their third string point guard they've been missing their starting shooting guard of course Derek Rose and Mr. Gibson is one of the best big men off the bench especially for young players throughout the NBA, And they are still going to finish top three
The Knicks don't have the depth to sustain injuries equivalent to what Chicago has the season

Is this really what your Sunday has come down to? Searching dictionary.com to point out grammatical errors on a message board? Half the posters' names don't make sense.
Bottom line is NY is going to continue to drop in the standings and this thread is discussing it.

Re: New York Dropping like a Ratchet
I've been on holidays the last week or so, and to come back and see that we've not only lost Amare, but now Melo and Chandler are missing games, is massively disappointing to say the least.
With these injuries, I just can't see us righting the ship in time to stop this bad run of play we're having. The east (bar Miami) are so close in the standings that we're seriously in danger of losing our HCA in the 1st round.
:( Same ol shit us Knicks fans have to deal with

That wasn't a grammatical error, it was a nonsensical one.
If a post contains something ridiculous, then people will comment on it... as they should.
And proper language usage does matter, even on a message board.

Re: New York Dropping like a Ratchet
The injuries have racked up. But I think there's enough time to get Melo and Tyson healthy. Both should return this week.
I honestly think the Knicks can pick it up to close the season. I don't think Amare has a chance of making a big impact until the 2nd round, but while they've had guys dropping, there are positive signs too. The return/signing of Camby/Kmart have given them the frontcourt depth that I thought they'd have, and they're playing well. Biggest plus is Shumpert has helped their perimeter D (as well as the return of the frontcourt depth) and their defense overall has started to steady a bit (that was happening before the injuries occurred). Their backcourt is starting to find their games again.
The frontcourt depth is going to help Tyson be more aggressive, and really they just need Melo in the lineup healthy to add to their scoring issues of late.
If they can avoid the Heat/Pacers in the first round (which shouldn't be a problem0, and the Heat in the 2nd round, I don't hate their chances to get to the ECF. They really have been a pretty good road team all season overall. And the only thing I would worry about with them prior to the playoffs (if the seeding works out as I described above) is their defense playing strong. If they are locked in defensively, I think they'll be able to get to the 2nd round, at least.
This is a team made for the postseason, clearly. They're veterans, and they've played the season out that way if you look at it with how they've handled injuries, been pretty cautious overall (except with Carmelo)

Man Knicks must be on the bottom of the east right now, i mean this is the THIRD time this season they are "Dropping like a ratchet", let me check the standings... wait what? :lol
Number of eastern teams that would win games on a west coast trip without their 3 best players = ZERO

Another first round exit for Carmelo Anthony, and the New York Knicks. So what else is new? The Bulls without DR are 3-0 againts the Knickerbockers.
