This guy comes back with a new and improved game. He looks better than ever and if he had Miami's loaded team, he could easily be in Lebron's spot. In my opinion, he's the greatest player in basketball today.
Lebron may have a better career so far but Rose is the better player.
The torch will be passed this year.

Passing- I give it to Rose. He's the PG of a contending team.
Shooting- Rose, more range and can create shots at will. Improved 3 point shot.
Defense- Tie. Rose is the better man defender but Lebron is a decent man defender but great at help.
Leadership- Rose because this Chicago team is different with him on the court. Miami is just as good when Lebron is on the bench.
Look for Rose to win the MVP this year. How far his team goes remains to be seen.
With an exception of FT%, there is not a single aspect of basketball Derrick Rose has ever been or will ever be better at than LeBron James.

It is arguable at least. Kobe and Wade were on Lebron's tier but unfortunately injuries and age has taken their toll. We just have to see how Rose plays in the season/playoffs as he hasn't play in forever.
Rose has always been an excellent player with great talent and reflexes for basketball.
Not yet, but possibly when Lebron slows and if Durant stumbles....the window of any guy the height of Rose will be small(ish) though.

Statistically, they're close. With Westbrook though, you also get the mental toughness you can't expect from Rose.

Rose and Westbrook are essentially the same type of player. Except where as Russel plays with reckless abandon, Rose plays the same way but with more finesse and control. He's also a better play maker. I'll give a slight edge of defense to Russel because he plays with much more tenacity. Rose also takes smarter shots as well.
My only knock on Rose is that he can't hit his free throws in crunch time, but I know that is something he can improve on. This mental toughness thing is linked to his refusal to play last season which is bullshit. He was right to sit out and look at how he's playing now.

You don't watch the Bulls enough to make your evaluation in the 60+ win season he hit PLENTY of clutch free throws to help us win games most notably in my mind three to win over the Pacers and Darren Collison.
Anyone care to tell me how Rose is better than Kevin Durant?

in 2011 rose averaged 28 points and 7 assists against the top 8 teams in the nba. westbrook averaged 19 and 5

Except Rose is a better PG. As scorers, I would say very comparable. Both like to work that midrange pull up, are excellent slashers and shot jack threes more than they should. But it's easy to see which of the two understands the elements of their position better. Defensively though, I'd give Westbrook the nod. Westbrook is probably one of the best rebounding guards as well. Dude just jumps absurdly high.

While both players are somewhat similar, Rose is better because he has a better feel for the game. Don't get me wrong, he's no Jason Kidd or Chris Paul, but he's got this raw instinct on how to react and adapt to situations that Westbrook lacks. Westbrook is all about willpower, he thinks "I'm going to do this to you" then does it because he's more athletic and fearless than anyone else, but if things don't go his way he'll only reluctantly adjust.

Yeah but RW can't guard Rose. I've never seen the coach [VDN or Thibs] switch Rose off of other team's star PG because he was getting cooked.
Also, Rose has been a proven #1 scorer on a team without a #2 scorer. No team is going to double RW all game with KD in the team. Until RW has to be the #1 guy for a full season I cannot say he is as good a scorer as Rose.
I don't doubt he could do it, but I also feel like his lack of feel for the game as you say would render him quite ineffective.

Westbrook is a better defender. Always has been up to this point, and most likely, always will be. Its not arguable. RW can't guard Rose? Same goes the other way. Big revelation.
No one is going to double Westbrook because he has Durant on the team? Watch a Thunder game. Its Westbrook getting doubled and trapped, not the other way around. Westbrook is the one that drives and dishes. Why would a coach force his best shooter in the thick of the action? Oh wait, he doesn't. Hence why you see Durant receive so many passes, and shoot, at times wide open 3 pointers as the defense sinks in on Westbrook.

Hey, I'm a die hard bulls fan but I believe lebron is the best player and it's not even close right now. I just hate the fact that he had to join wade and bosh and I really think he could of won a chip with the Cavs. Lebron has all the talent in the world but he does have 2 superstars with him.
But Rose did turn the Bulls franchise around. He brought us to the playoffs against a beastly celtics team win VDN as our couch and we been to the playoffs ever since :cheers:
