Nice, French Revolution should be cool.
I really loved the pirating, but it didn't feel like it came from the same series 100%. The history is foggier in that period. The current day story line has come completely off the tracks.
I've said this many times, but I'm fine just with a new conspiracy based historical open world game with killer platforming every year. I like to experience these cities, see some of these moments, as fictitious as they are. I don't really need all the extra tied in story line.
This being placed in a firmer historical moment, and in a great landscape, will be right up my alley I'm sure.
What the **** is up Batman and now this coming out next gen only. Well I actually know what's up but it's pissing me off because I don't wanna buy a PS4 yet...
P.S: Does anybody remember the original AC trailer? This has to be a nod to that.

Yeah I think this has the potential to be the best AC since Brotherhood.
Finally :applause:
So apparently the title of the current gen only game might be Comet. I might buy both and borrow someone's PS4.
Can't wait to climb the Eiffel. I don't own a PS4 yet either but I have no problem waiting until I buy one to play it.

Yeah I've said this about every AC game that I'll wait this time... but I always find a way to play it right away.
This is set in the French Revolution BTW, there shouldn't be an Eiffel Tower.

Oops, forgot the Eiffel didn't exist yet. That's kind of a bummer because I wanted to parachute off that thing lol.
Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll have something similar in the present day storyline. :lol
I wonder where they'll take that story arch though? Do we pick up where we left off from Aita's death? Does Juno finally get unleashed? Should be interesting.

Damn that would be cool! But yeah, prolly won't happen :( . You know I got ac4 as a gift, the series was dead to me after3, but now I can't wait for the next game. Next gen only is great, all games should be as soon as the next consoles come out. Thaat way games are not held back by old tech, and it is good to see last gen sales of games fall off. No reason to make games for ps360 if no one buys them.
Neat fact I read somewhere, maybe on a tumblr, they've been working on this game for three years, that means they must have started this project immediately after Brotherhood came out. And there's this from gamespot:

Masonic eye = American Revolution = AC3
Phrygian cap = French Revolution = AC5
Some serious foreshadowing that everyone seemed to have missed back then.
Even though I'm not a super huge history guy, I know the eye was involved with the French Revolution. So now I'm kinda mad I didn't get it.:facepalm
At least I picked up on all the french revolution hints in ac 4.
Also there's a pretty interesting rumor about Comet being about the Templars and not the Assassins.
Awww yiss.
So excited, I gave up trying to 100% Black Flag, but I was never into the pirating aspect of the game.
Looks really nice.

No you got it backwards. The eye has to do with the masonic eye which is related to America and is on the dollar bill.
As for your other post about the 2nd game being about Templars, I'm really excited to hear that. A different perspective altogether. I wonder how big the second game will be, and if it will get super repetitive if you play both.

If they are both the scope of black flag, and you play watchdogs too, that is a ton of similar gameplay (at least from the vids of wd it looks like future ac) in 7-8 months.

I was thinking the same thing. After I finished The Last of Us, I went / am going:
GTA
Black Flag
Infamous
Watch Dogs (preordered)
Then I'm gonna go two Assassin's Creeds?
That's a ton of open world gaming. I love open world gaming, but that's a lot of "fetch and bring"ing. And a lot of Ubisoft.
A high end linearish action adventure. An Uncharted. A Resident Evil. Sure would be a nice change of pace.
I'm hopefull for some quality downloadable indie puzzler platformer types to get some break. I look forward to trying Fez.

Damn I have pretty much the same list, just a few more added in.
Gta 5,Stick of truth, ac 4, second son, tomb raider, thief (not a good game imo) , mgs gzeroes.
Then my next game will be watchdogs, and then soul suspect, and unless something else is announced at e3, ac unity.
Little bit of variety, but still not a ton.

If it's the POV of the Templars...that's probably the only way I get both ACs. Otherwise I'm gonna say **** old gen AC.
For me I don't think that'll be a problem because usually I spend 2-3 weeks on finishing out the story. Then try to get at least 90% done. That takes another couple weeks. The games usually hit in the fall. Take some time off, and get that the other in the spring, when there's seldom any AAA games that come out. It'll have dropped off in price a lot, and probably only be like a 2-3 month wait.
Time to revive this thread?
Having seen the E3 trailers, I feel like this is going to be their best effort since AC2/Brotherhood. I don't even care about the co-op aspect, the city looks fantastic. I just hope Arno has an intriguing personality.

I'm less enthused because the Revelations director is handling this one.

Revelations was balls. Shortest one, great idea turned into a meh story, probably the only one that I would say has a weak story.

No I was showing disappointment on it being the Revelations director. I agree it was by far the worst game in the series.

Ah okay. I knew you were hyped up because it was taking place in Turkey, and that's part of your background. I thought you were a critic of it as well, so I was like.:confusedshrug:
Bringing back the stupid chemical bomb making shit too. :facepalm

:oldlol: I can see that as being very confusing I guess. Yeah I was definitely pumped for it but I've always seen it as the worst in the franchise. The one thing I did like was the detailed missions for the recruits. Much better than in any other game.

Jeez...
At last, stealth mode. :applause:

That and controlled descent is awesome. The fact that you can descend from a building with jumping into a haystack (which always seemed a little absurd to me) or hugging a wall makes the navigation even better.
The demo honestly looks incredible:

  Oh my god.
I loved AC2 and the way the cities were outlined. Felt like you could really climb and go anywhere. While AC3 and AC4 were okay, they didn't feel like traditional Creed games.
This looks amazing. The city is beautiful, the fact that you have so many side missions and that you can interact with so many parts of the city is mind-blowing. And the controlled descent and stealth mode are something the games needed a long time ago. Wasn't sure if I'd get this game, but looks like a day one purchase for me.

HOLY SHIT!!
I may have to succumb to a PS4 after all. Omg.
Huge positives I noticed:
-Stealth gameplay from the Splinter Cell games. Awesome addition and long overdue.
-Controlled descent looks and sounds good. I hope it's easy to control.
-You can use disguises LIKE THE ACTUAL HISTORICAL HASHISHINS DID. About ****ing time.
-Some combat features that disappeared after AC2 to make it easier seemed to have returned. Combat had really gotten boring.
-Looks like eagle vision develops as you go through the game. This is a nice touch.
I really like the focus on actual assassinations being improved. My concern right now is the real world storyline. Will it be a continuation of Black Flag or something different? Personally I wouldn't mind a continuation as long as it moves that story arch forward and tie up some things.

That was tough not to catch haha. Very interesting. I wonder if it's a defector. I always thought Unity just refers to the co-op aspect of the gameplay (just like brotherhood referred to the recruits) but it could be something much larger.
So this is what is known so far about the background on Arno from various interviews, blogs, books, etc. that might shed light on the trailer Rose posted. I'll put it in white in case someone doesn't want to know.

-Arno is not related to Desmond Miles
-Arno is half Austrian and half French. His father murdered at age 8.
-Arno was raised in Versailles by a Templar Grandmaster. Also murdered.
-Arno eventually leaves Versailles and becomes an Assassin.
-Elise, the female in the trailer, is a Templar and seems to have a history with Arno
-Also, I remembered from being having been there, Arno is also a river that runs through Florence, Ezio's birthplace. :D

I think I'm as hyped for this game as I was for AC2.
Really? Maybe spoilers in white: I thought I read that his family was from a long line of Assassins?

Apparently the "Unity" part is gonna delve into what would happen if the two factions could work together. Also gonna shed some light on why they hate each other so much.
Honestly that news is the only thing that makes me excited for this game. It's gonna be the first one I don't preorder since the original one.
Well he could still be from a long line of assassins, just not Desmond's lineage.
I'm more excited about it now than I was before. The gameplay video looks amazing to me.
I thought we already knew why the Templars and Assassins hate each other (extreme ideological differences). Why do we need to focus on that even more?

I meant that about being trained by the Templar. I guess it could be like the Kenways.
I don't know. Pretty much whether or not an AC game is good largely depends on the setting. It is as much of a character as the protagonist in the games really. The French Revolution is a fantastic historical era. There's lots of cool shit going on, but having the game set mostly in Paris? Ehhh. I don't know.
I'm hoping there's something more there, like we find out the two factions were originally one and split over an ideological difference (obviously), or that there's more to the reason why the two are fighting. Maybe both sides have forgotten what the real reason is now aside from the ideological differences.
The formula is kinda getting stale. It's why I was hoping for a largely different AC this time around. One that focuses on the Templars instead, or maybe the events happening in the modern day after the end of AC 3. Because in a post AC 3 world, the Templars kind of need a new goal or maybe not goal, but new ends to reach that goal or something.
Plus that same damn Revelations director has me concerned, especially since he's put chemical bombs back in. I'm waiting to see what else is shitty. Sure the gameplay looks nice, but I'm largely skeptical of it mostly because of everything in this post.:lol
And for the last gen

Okay-ish premise. Kinda upset the last gen has sailing stuff, may pick it up later on down the line if it gets good reviews.

Rumors of making Rogue into a separate AC franchise if it takes off.
