Wow. That's terrible. You should stop making these if people are gonna continue to host an abomination to the game of basketball.
Dwight Howard was better on defense than KG.
I am considering it because trolls are coting on the likes of Michael Beas and other. KG won over Tim and Bill Russell but only by one vote.
KG was all around probably the best ever nothing wrong with that pick.

Re: #2 NBA Defender Of All-Time According to InsideHoops
Russell was the greatest, and Chamberlain was #2.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/dws_season.html
And keep in mind that Wilt was voted first team all-defense in his last two seasons, and would have won a couple more in the 60's has the award existed.
The same Wilt who outshot Russell from the field in every one of their eight H2H series, and some by margins of .500 - .399, .517 - .386, .555 to .447; and even .556 to .358.
The same Chamberlain who battled Nate Thurmond in three playoff series, and outshot him by margins of .500 to .392; .611 to .373, and a Finals of .560 to .343.
Or Walt Bellamy shooting .541 in his regular season, and then being outscored, outrebounded, and outshot from the field by a .584 to .421 margin, by Chamberlain in the '68 playoffs.
Or Kareem shooting .577 and .574 in his '71 and '72 regular seasons, and then shooting .481 and .457 against Wilt in his two post-seasons.
Or Chamberlain averaging 5.42 bpg in his last season (and certainly by far, the lowest of his career.) A Wilt who blocked a known 33 shots in just four games against Kareem's Bucks in '72, 15 of which were Kareem's. And then Chamberlain averaged 7.4 bpg in the Finals that year.
Or Wilt having a RECORDED game of 23 blocked shots, and several other games of estimated block totals of 25-30+. And having educated estimates of 10+ bpg seasons.
And just crushing Russell in blocked shots in their known H2H games.
Russell, then Wilt, and then arguably Nate Thurmond (just ask Kareem about Nate.)

Not a lot of seriousness in this thread, I think we'll wrap this shit up. Thought we could make something fun.
But can't be done:(
Great post Laz and to all who took this with a little bit of seriousness.

Aside from Deuce's take on Russell (and using Fpliii's information BTW), I am the only one here who has actually backed up his claims.

Don't allow troll votes, seriously KG at the GOAT defender? :oldlol: He was above average at his best.
Obviously Russ is the consensus defensive GOAT on here, just look at the quality of posters who voted for him vs those who voted for KG.
The effort is appreciated buddy.
:oldlol: @ Bill Russell, put Steve Nash in that era, and he's considered the goat defender.
Interesting...
Russell was considered the best defensive player of his era, which included Nate Thurmond. Thurmond faced a peak Kareem in 40 H2H games, and KAJ posted a total of FIVE games of 30+, with a HIGH game of 34 points. Not only that, but Kareem shot .440 against Nate in those 40 games. This from a KAJ who was averaging over 30 ppg and shooting over .550 from the field in those seasons.
And yet a 38-39 year old KAJ, who couldn't jump over a matchstick, averaged 32 ppg, on .621 shooting, in ten straight games against Hakeem. Included were THREE games of 40+ (40, 43, and 46 and in only 37 minutes.) Hell, a 37-41 year old KAJ, and against a 23-26 year old Hakeem, outscored Olajuwon in their 23 H2H games, and outshot him from the field by a .607 to .512 margin. Oh, and Kareem only had three games, in those 23 H2H's, in which he failed to shoot at least 50%, with 12 games of .600+, and five of 70% shooting!
Do you think KAJ would be a crappy player in today's NBA? If you do, how about Hakeem, then?
