Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
Karl maxed that team out nearly every year he coached. It has been downhill ever since he left. George Karl was shafted by that joke of a franchise. Great coach.
Oh and why was Shaw so coveted as a head coach? He's another Byron Scott dud.
-
Re: Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
They were just getting lucky when Melo left, he was the best thing to ever happen to Denver.
-
Re: Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
Karl is a genius as a coach but he is a man of opinions and in today's society that doesn't fly.
Shaw is an AA hire, he needs to be an assistant for a few more years at least.
-
Re: Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
Karl's an awesome coach. He's an asshole for sure but he knows how to get a team to play.
-
Re: Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
Karl failed in the playoffs many, many times.
But the fact that shaw is failing now (and he's horrible) doesn't mean letting Karl go was a mistake.
Maybe this will finally start the over due rebuilding process. Had we kept Karl we would win 40-45 games again. That's not what we need.

As opposed to not making the playoffs...anytime soon.

Watching the Nuggets these past two seasons, now I truly appreciate what Karl achieved in his last year and he definitely deserved COY.

Ah right. Shoulda predicted the future.
Even if you could and you told me they would lose in the first round 5 more times jn a row id still be ok with letting Karl go.

I mean what don't people understand. Did you just start watching the NBA? No? Well than alright. Nuggets had the second longest playoff streak in the NBA sans the Spurs. Think about that. Seriously, the Nuggets? You gotta fire the coach. Time to move on. Perhaps time for the basement.
Karl did what he could. He and the Nuggets came to a point where they both needed to back away. People just don't care about Denver so have know idea about the entire story :confusedshrug:

Re: Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
They are in a tough conference and rebuilding, I would say the Nuggz overachieve IMO.

I agree with what you're saying right here, but this is bullshit
You and most of the other Nuggets fans on ISH went on and on about how the Nuggets would be a good solid playoff contender this season. I always thought it was bullshit and you should just tank, but for you to pretend now at 1-4 that you knew you'd suck and you should rebuild is completely disingenuous.

Giving Faried 50mil + :facepalm all based on his "Fiba play".....
-
Re: Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
they are still in that transition period of
who comes first, our players or the coach.
-
Re: Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
The Nuggets problem is less about the coach and more about the players. The Nuggets do not have a single All-NBA player on their roster. They do not have a guy who can take over games consistently.
They might win a few in the regular season but you cannot win in the playoffs without having at least 1 star. The last team with "no stars" to win was the Sonics in the late 70's. And even Dennis Johnson was a bigger star than any of the current Nuggets.
Their system would work great in college though. A bunh of different guys contributing and no stars... great system in college.

George Karl:
good reg. season coach, awful playoff coach.

This is true. When Karl was in, the Nuggets were always relevant.

Re: Good riddance to the Nuggets for firing George Karl...(Thinking Shaw was a genius)
Did the OP complain when the Cavs fired Mike Brown after winning 60+ games and never failing to make the playoffs?
Did the OP complain when the Warriors fired Marc Jackson after not having back to back playoff appearances in 20 years?
Did the OP create a thread when Lionel Hollins was let go in Memphis after taking that team further than they have ever been in recent memory?
Methinks the OP is a very angry racist. Scratch that, after his support for George Zimmerman, the OP is a confirmed idiotic racist.

I can honestly say, I thought the Nuggets would make a strong push for the playoffs this year. Five games in, it looks like I was wrong about that.
The problem about being a perpetual 1st round exit, is that it doesn't allow the team to acquire any new talent via the draft. Denver is a black hole for free agency, no one seems to want to play here. Making the playoffs is counterproductive right now imo for Denver.
As far as the slow start goes, I can't figure it out. I know there isn't any real "star" power with this team, but they shouldn't be this bad. I think that the problems are stemming from the locker room. I think Shaw has a disconnect with many of his starting players.
As far as a wasted season, it's only five games in. With 77 games left things can only get better, right?

 You gotta love morons of your ilk. OP, based on his historical racist posting, and other posters, clearly make a race baiting thread.
Instead of calling them race baiters, you try to call me "a race baiter" for pointing out the obvious.
And try to keep up, Billy. I am not having a discussion about the merits of who the better coach is (although I do not concede Karl is better)...I am pointing out the OP's (and other poster's) hypocrisy.

shaw doesnt look like the answer as head coach. but neither was Karl
we were never winning in the post season with karl coaching. not that we will with shaw coaching either
i'm hoping for Chauncey as head coach. sooner rather than later

So...you're legally retarded?
Well let me break this down for the simple minded. You singled out the OP in your original post, not the user I have on ignore. Now from what I've seen, he's had some exaggerated topics that could be seen as "discriminant" and troll-ish, but nothing here suggests that he is racist and/or race baiting.
Thing is, replacing Karl for Shaw, in hindsight, was a terrible move. Like Scott, Shaw hasn't shown that he's even fit for a headcoaching position (unless you think competing for contention is foreign).

This team is in real trouble. They are paying too many mediocre players too much money. Gallo looks lost. Their best player now has chonic lower lef problems. They will probably end up above only Minny and LAL.
Shaw's stuff is almost laughably simplistic and they allow opposition way too much open space.

Do people STILL think Mark Jackson is a good coach??
I mean look what a rookie coach is doing with them. They ball flies around and they are breathtaking to watch offensively. Just 6 games ago this was the #12 offensive team in the league under Jackson.
C'mon, Jackson was a hack who didn't get the Xs and Os of the game, came out and basically said his boss was going to burn in hell, was leaving the team to fly to LA to preach almsot every weekend while his competitors were gameplanning, had a extramarital scandal, fired his entire coaching staff out of paranoia, proclaimed "Part time coach of the GSW, full time Preacher", and underachieved with a highly talented team.
If anyone ever hires him to lead a team it will be a terrible decision.

It didn't much matter who was coaching the Nuggets or the Warriors in that series. Steph was the deciding factor.

because Karl decided to put Andre Miller on him most of the series

From everything I remember of that series, it didn't matter what defender was assigned to Curry. Steph was balling in the face of traps on the perimeter. He was balling when Brewer was on him. He was balling when Ty was on him.
Regarding your last 2 statements, I don't put as much value as you in timeouts called. Nor do I think the message Karl would have sent to his team by instructing them to foul would have propelled them to victory. Fair points nonetheless
It's as simple as being beat by the better team in my eyes. Always will be.
