This
I'm leery of Embiid's health after hearing he's grown to 7'2. If his body is still developing he'll be prone to injuries, and it doesn't help his diet before coming to the States was terrible.
I have to wait so long to express my excitement about Embiid... I hope he is never injured again..
Bigger than ibaka?

that look you give a man when you realize he makes you feel like a child.
Look at the way Embiid is walking around like he runs shit

:lol even randle played more minute in NBA than embiid.
Embiid is running shit so far :lol
Jah is a very large man, but Embiid makes him look like a freshman in high school.
Crossing our fingers that we will be getting some good news on Embiid in the next few days.
If this guy gets healthy, I have a feeling people are going to be shocked at his immediate potential. His frame, athleticism and natural feel for the game is a scary combination.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, if his body can't handle what it takes and he remains oft injured, it will have been an NBA tragedy.
He has the highest ceiling of any natural center I have seen come into the league since Shaq. I've been saying it for awhile, and I still believe it.

Higher than Oden?
Jahlil Okafor is a terrible athlete(for NBA standards). He is pretty ****ing pudgy, not quite fat....but he just doesn't have that natural elite frame. He looks soft. And it's not the same with a guy like Pierce or Harden who have that deceptive athletisicm. Okafor is just not athletic at all. On top of it those guys were mentally tough, while this guy is half retarded.
Simply standing next to this guy of course is going to make him look better.
is he even going to play next season??
Higher than Oden?
Imo it's really hard to tell because Embiid started playing basketball way later than all these other blue chip prospects. What makes him so intriguing is that his natural feel for the game on both ends is something extremely rare, something even Oden didn't have. He wasn't as accomplished a player in college as Oden was, but it's hard to project because his improvement on a game-by-game basis was ridiculous...watching him over the course of his college season, at times it felt like he already knew how to do everything, like he just stopped playing for a while and was shaking the rust off...but then you realize no, he only started playing 3-4 years ago and is actually learning all of this on the fly. Every night he would get smarter, look sharper, have new tricks in his game.
is he even going to play next season??
Perhaps not, but these kids are saying he's "running shit"
For the record I'm a believer if he can be healthy but let's wait till he steps on the court
Looking tall next to okafor isn't something that will be rare. The lakers "brought out the tape measure" on okafor and that is a big reason they didn't choose him. 6-9 guys never look tall in the nba
What Oden did in his freshman year is pretty underrated. People sometimes forget he broke his wrist (shooting hand) and missed the start of the season. Once he got his feet wet again, he was a regular ~17/10/3 blocks and Ohio State didn't lose a single game for the last few months before the National Championship.
I know college... But I remember watching that game not completely sold on Oden at the time and I left in awe at his performance and upside. He was single handedly keeping his team in the game on both ends. btw, UF with a post consisting of Joakim Noah, Al Horford, Mo Speights, and Chris Richard.

Did they bring out the tape measure when they traded for Hibbert? 7'2, I'm pretty sure that's the longest turd ever measured.

He's 6'10 3/4. Not 6'9. Also 7'5 wingspan and 9'2 inch standing reach. How many centers in the NBA have that?

Hater Troll?
He's not that tall. No way hosay. He's 6-10 barefoot AT maximum.

What are you even typing? You don't make sense. And how many centers have the wingspan and reach like Okafor? He's tall enough. He's not undersized like Sullinger
He's 6' 9.5 barefoot and 6'11" w shoes on. He has a 7'5" wingspan. He's fine.

So he's as tall as Cousins.

Okafor is still huge :facepalm
But will he ever play?
#NoMoreTanking
He's got like 4 inches at the shoulders. Embiid has rare talent for a 7 footer. He was showing some Hakeem-esque footwork and quickness. As a fan of the game, I hope he can stay healthy because I'm curious to see how good he can be.
Higher than Oden?
Yes, higher than Oden. I thought Oden would be good, but I wasn't this bullish on him. Something about Greg just unnerved me. Maybe it was because he looked like LeBron's dad.
Embiid is going to step on an NBA floor as essentially the biggest/longest player in the league along with Javale McGee. And, he is very athletic and already extremely skilled considering how long he has been playing the game.
He has the "it" factor, whatever that is. Now, he needs some work, so the coaching has to be right. But, man... if this guy puts it all together, look out.
Standing reach >>>>>>>>>> height
How high your head is doesn't matter. How high you can reach is what is vastly more important
I made this post a while back, but I guess it could use repeating with the current conversation.
Embiid is huge... and long. He has an impossible standing reach. He will essentially step into the NBA as the biggest all-around player in the entire league. And, the scary thing is that he seems to have grown since I made this post. These were his official measurements at the combine.
Joel Embiid - 7'1 height, 260 pounds, 7'5.75 wingspan, 9'5.5 standing reach
--------
for comparison's sake...
Anthony Davis - 6'10.5 height, 220 pounds, 7'5.5 wingspan, 9'0 standing reach
Andre Drummond - 6'11.75 height, 280 pounds, 7'6.25 wingspan, 9'1.5 standing reach
Dwight Howard - 6'10.25 height, 265 pounds, 7' 4.5 wingspan, 9' 3.5 standing reach
Roy Hibbert - 7'2 height, 260 pounds, 7'4 wingspan, 9'4 standing reach
LaMarcus Aldridge - 6'11.25 height, 240 pounds, 7' 4.75 wingspan, 9'2 standing reach
Nerlens Noel - 6'11.75 height, 228 pounds, 7'3.75 wingspan, 9'2 standing reach
And, he can do things like this athletically...

All this hate on Okafor's athleticism :facepalm
Most important aspect of athleticism for a big man is fluidity. Okafor has elite footwork already. He may not be super explosive, but he's so far from a stiff it's not even funny.
Okafor's height is irrelevant. He's what, 270lbs with 7'5" wingspan? He's like Elton Brand profile. He's a big 5, definitely not undersized.

People get way too caught up in height. Wingspan and standing reach are far more important factors. You play the game with your hands, not the top of your head.
Okafor is more than big enough to play either frontcourt position.

What is Okafor's standing reach? That is much more important than wingspan on a big man.

Yeah, he'll be fine.

Didn't Noel get like 2 steals per game last year?
They need to have him start working on a 3pt shot, start Noel at SF, Okafor at PF, Embiid at C, just for the lols

Yeah, he'll be fine.
Can't wait to see him tomorrow. And you're a bigger Embiid fan than some Sixers fans. :lol
Okafor shooting jumpers. His shot would get punched into the stands but hey
