Trouble in paradise? Musk slams Trump's "big beautiful bill"
Elon Musk slams President Trump's big tax and policy bill as a 'disgusting abomination'
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/06/03/musk-trump-tax-bill/84012223007/
According to Trump's press secretary, Trump already knew where Elon stood on the bill and they had discussions prior but Trump didn't care.

All these politicians need to get serious about cutting spending - not increasing it. But they want to get re-elected - not do what's best for the country.

Whose to say it's a breakup? Why can't they just have a disagreement?
They should hold hands in tandem on every single thing?

maybe bc elon has officially left his administration at the same time that he openly criticized trump's bill...:confusedshrug:
and he used pretty stern words to describe the BBB

No, I'm saying it's perfectly possible to have a disagreement over one thing while still having a working relationship.
I don't think this will be the thing that fuels an all out war between the two. I doubt Trump will be giving Elon a mean nickname any time soon.
If anything this should dispel the whole oligarchy myth or that Trump is beholden to Elon.

Musk will never be forgiven by the left, there is nothing he could do, even if he went full on TDS. He has passed the point of forgiveness.

I will say, I actually side with Trump on this. At least the part of the Bill that Musk is at ends with anyway. The Federal Spending part.
Most people have a very elementary understanding of the National Debt, and I think that Musk falls into that. He hasn't really taken a dive into why it matters, he just knows "we can't keep spending like this!!!!!" But the reality is, that YES, we can. Forever. That is a huge part of why the US is above every other nation. We spend, and because of that spending, we create. We create MORE than they do. They should spend more, and grow and grow and grow, like us.
The part of the debt that FED loans out? They aren't looking to collect. If interest becomes too high? We lower rates. If inflation becomes too great? we raise rates, remove cash from the system. It works and has been working.

The left was about to ready to lick his daughter's c*nt.

I was JUST bout to bring up W lol, Trump was literally the greatest thing to happen to that man's reputation. I won't say it's done a complete 180, but he's looked at in a far better light now than he was after he left office.

Re: Trouble in paradise? Musk slams Trump's "big beautiful bill"
it is a shit bill. it's uniparty 101, but it's all on the republicans lets make that much clear. expect nothing less from house republicans and cuckboy mike johnson who's primary goal above all is to grant their donors their tax cuts that they were promised, debt be damned. i don't ever want to hear congressional republicans cry about how dems may end up spending recklessly anytime down the line because they don't give a god damn about the debt, aside from this thomas massie who's apparently the only principled republican that's speaking out against it.

look at that - cuts to ss programs to pad the pockets of the rich, at a time in history where the wealth disparity is at an all time high, we just saw the largest transfer of wealth during covid and the middle class still continues to shrink. it costed one trllion $ last year to service the debt. lol. what a joke our congress is. honestly it doesn't matter anyway - it's far too gone to reverse at this point.

no of course they wouldn't. quite the contrary - dems are known to spend, spend, spend. republicans on the other hand are supposed to be principally fiscally conservative. you can't see this for what it is and call it out accordingly?

this isn't trump's bill yet, so your chance to step on some toes of those that deserve it is now. are you principled or are you too caught up in the bullshit? better maintain some space for yourself just in case this ends up passing the senate as-is, right?
any other magas wanna call this bill out? here's your chance to lend yourselves some credibility. this one is a 'gimme'. it should be so easy. can you do it? or are you just too caught up in 'sidisms' to grow a pair?
"oh but dems"!!!
sounds like the same old bullshit you like you call them out on their hypocrisies (valid too, btw) but when it comes to stepping up the plate you're as quiet as a *ucking church mouse.
"everyone turns conservative when they get older"! it's too bad y'all don't act like it.
lol unbelievable.
op i'm looking in your direction especially. for all the shit you talk about the democrats (yep, rightfully so too), you wanna call out some house republicans? you should be at em like a rottweiler here.

The worst spenders are Republicans. Reagan and W are the worst offenders in modern times. Both parties spend, but Dems spend less on average.

Looking at this Bill and saying "but Democrats......" is textbook whataboutism though.
Republicans are in office.

Please calm down - they are all corrupt, but it's a binary choice between Dems and Repubs (the lesser evil). I've already expressed my opinion at length in the Stock Market thread - zero based budgeting. But REALISTICALLY, politicians are going to get for themselves and their constituents - regardless of Musk, DOGE, Rand Paul, etc. - they are going to keep spending and decrease the value/reserve currency of the US dollar.
I save my principles for my personal/family life - why get stressed over something I personally cannot change? Better to invest in some bitcoin and gold for the future. And enjoy one of my favorite time of the year - NBA playoffs and French Open/Wimbledon. Good diet, exercise/resistance training, deep sleep, family/friends and LESS STRESS - the recipe for seniors (me) and really any age.

it's simple. because the majority of people, especially here, are unwilling to call out the bullshit of their own side. this bill is the perfect opportunity to do so - there's arguably next to nothing good abput it. people choose side-ism bullshit over their own integrity and stance on issues. you think giving this shit a pass adds to your or anyone's credibility? ugh, 'people gonna people' aren't they?
call the bullshit out, left or right, trump or biden and turn around and give credit where credit is due, period. like i said, it's not hard, unless you're a *ucking child and you're just in it all for the lulz, which i'm beginning to think op is. damn shame.

Re: Trouble in paradise? Musk slams Trump's "big beautiful bill"
I'm not sure what the left is celebrating here. Sure it probably gets them wet in the pants to see republicans in-fighting, but at the same time it blows a hole in their entire campaign.
"We're living under an oligarchy..."
"Musk owns Trump..."
"Trump is a cult leader..."
"Nobody on the right ever criticizes Trump..."
Unless this is all one big put on, none of those arguments are valid anymore. Trump is acting against Elon's wishes and prominent republicans are criticizing his bill.
You never know what any of their real intentions are, after all you can never trust a politician, but this type of in-fighting is the sign of a healthy party actually. There *should* be room for disagreement on certain things.
Unlike the left which actually *does* operate like a cult and will exile you over the first sign of disobedience. Which is why no one was allowed to talk about Brandon's health.

Re: Trouble in paradise? Musk slams Trump's "big beautiful bill"
@ Baller, all you seem to care about is looking for ways to find the "left" being hypocritical. However, any Trumper who is fine with the BBB would be hypocritical after the complaining about inflation which was being blamed on Biden's spending.
FWIW, I do not think most grasp the basics of Gov spending, Musk included. Now that the inflation rate is at 2.3%, it should be okay to spend. Because inflation is the only real risk. And people need to understand, that every single dollar in circulation right now, is "borrowed" money from the FED. It is not intended to be paid back. And the bigger question for economists is not the size of the debt, but when the FED will lower rates. And I am starting to see that increased spending like this combined with lower rates? That will cause a stock market boom. Trump and his team know this. And when the inflation rate is in check (thanks to the FED rates) they will be fine turning the water hose on.
-
Re: Trouble in paradise? Musk slams Trump's "big beautiful bill"
Also FWIW, I can see the tirade that Musk is throwing over this on Twitter. And I feel like he has ulterior motives. Right now is probably the worst Q that Tesla has ever seen growth wise. They are shrinking while the EV market is growing. BYD is moving up quick on them. Tesla's board has probably had it although the stock value is doing well for some reason.
Anyway I feel like Musk is trying hard to reverse his damaged image and win back costumers.

Uh, I'm pretty sure it had more to do with WHAT the money was being spent on there buddy.
Expanded unemployment benefits for lazy losers that didn't wanna apply for a job a year out from Covid? Expansion of Obamacare? Lol $122 billion so public schools could "open safely"? Expansion of SNAP and welfare? More than half the shit in Brandon's bill was money down the drain.
At least Trump is spending the money on defense and infrastructure. Things we actually need and benefit from. Not to mention the bill lowers taxes for practically everyone.

Musk's complaint is that it adds to the money supply in circulation (inflation) and creates a larger debt for the future generations to inherit, which was the primary complaint by the right toward Biden.
Much of the covid money printed up by both Trump and Biden was handed directly to the American people in the form of a stimulus check, or used to bail out companies that would have collapsed. They used covid as their reasoning to spend that much. But here we have Trump adding over $2T WITHOUT covid.

I mean, why do you think Musk has a probelm with it?
I'm starting to realize you don't actually have the slightest clue WTF is going on :oldlol:
