Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/ahmedabad-india-plane-crash-06-12-25
A plane headed for London from India crashed right after takeoff, crashing into a hostel. Amazingly, the one survivor of the plane crash isn't even in critical condition, he was able to walk, and will likely be released in 1-2 days.
I don't know how many of you have seen Unbreakable, but this is genuinely the real life version of it

Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
Did they say how he survived? I saw the crash site and there’s no shot I thought anyone survived. He’s lucky as hell but will need to see a therapist asap. The trauma he will deal with is crazy.
-
Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
Wow, he must of been very luckily flung out of the side of the plane onto a bed or something the moment the plane cracked open.
But horrible news of course, damn. :(

Footage of the crash, it's absolutely insane, legitimately beyond belief, that anyone survived that.

Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
It seems like flaps or throttle problem. Possibly pilot error as well. Regardless, it's quite alarming that the airliner involved again is boeing. Rip to the unfortunate.

The lone survivor said he heard a loud bang before the plane went down. The pilot called in a mayday after takeoff. Why is pilot error assumed in this case?
-
Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
He did? Oh that makes it even more alarming then. I just assumed the possibility of pilot error just by watching the video alone. It looked like a routine takeoff initially before going down right away, with no explosion visible in the footage until the crash itself.

Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
I refrained from posting in this thread, in order to not inhibit Axe from giving his opinion about the crash.
This was the previous flight, just two hours before the crash.

I also read a comment from a flight attendant for Air India, and they said something akin to, nobody wanted to work on that airplane due to many issues, but were forced by the company.

Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
I have wondered that perhaps there was someone as heavy as Axe and that is maybe why the plane couldn't take off and achieve proper lift.
I'm glad though that it wasn't the actual Axe that was on that flight because Axe is like a son to me, and perhaps my actual child as we await DNA results. The other Axe on this plane was not my son so I'm not worried.

I will admit that when I first saw the plane rising, and then slowly elevating back down to the ground, my immediate thought was Axe, and the whole scenario of someone as heavy as Axe being on the plane. But I purposefully did not mention it because I'm making an effort not to make fun of Axe potentially being obese.

On this subject though, Axe shouldn't be allowed near airports. His stench could very well cause plane crashes.

Re: Full Court is an autistic asshole who keeps random posters rent free in his pea b
So the lone survivor said the plane split in two and he was ejected out. This is mind boggling. I need to see a play by play what happened where he landed etc
Another medic said Ramesh told him that immediately after the plane took off, it began descending and suddenly split in two, throwing him out before a loud explosion.
Video broadcast by Indian news channels appeared to show a bloodied Ramesh walking away from the crash site and people running behind him.
Ramesh, who had his boarding pass with him in the hospital, told local newspaper Hindustan Times that he saw bodies and parts of the plane strewn around the crash site.
“When I got up, there were bodies all around me. I was scared. I stood up and ran,” he told the newspaper.
Ramesh was traveling to London with his brother and called relatives in Leicester after the crash, his cousin, Ajay Valgi, told the BBC.
“He only said that he’s fine, nothing else,” Valgi said, adding that the family is “happy that he’s OK, but we’re still upset about the other brother.”
Nayan Kumar Ramesh told Sky News that his brother called his father moments after the crash to say he had survived.
“He video called my dad as he crashed and said, ‘Oh the plane’s crashed. I don’t know where my brother is. I don’t see any other passengers. I don’t know how I’m alive, how I exited the plane’,” he told Sky.
Re: Full Court is an autistic asshole who keeps random posters rent free in his pea b
I bet that he was one of the only passengers that wasn't wearing a seat belt, and when the plane cracked open he was sucked out immediately before it exploded. Everyone else was trapped in their seat via seat belt and burned.
Not to say that seatbelts aren't safer, usually you would not want to be sucked out if a door or window breaks open or something during flight. You'd want to be locked to your seat and hope they can land.
-
Re: Full Court is an autistic asshole who keeps random posters rent free in his pea b
If he really wants to get back to London, I would not get on another plane that's for sure.

did the fuselage break in two? pretty hard to imagine someone being sucked out of the small space of a door or window with such force without suffering critical injury.

That is what I am imagining yes. With him, no seatbelt, being flung out in some way while everyone else is secured to their seat.
I am no expert on air pressure issues, and yes the plane was at ground level so maybe just the initial force of the crash flung him out.
-
Re: Full Court is an autistic asshole who keeps random posters rent free in his pea b
He probably didn’t wear a seatbelt like you did. Or it broke loose? I saw the diagram where he sat. Window seat that appeared near the emergency exit door. Man I’d like to see an animation of how he survived. He probably doesn’t remember it all.

This survivor was my brother....
He told me before take off that a fat latino was on the plane ... and it was listing ...
Brother is ok , bought Lottery ticket and won 50 bucks as usual.
He said he felt nothing when Latino was dead.

Yep. Saw that one earlier. Very precise and concise in his explanation. Could very well have been pilot error where the flaps were confused for the landing gear. I say it was total power loss.

I know that's a thing but never quite understood it if he's in no way shape or form at fault. I could see how that would happen if say you're driving and you get in an accident and everyone in your car dies but in this instance, why would you feel any guilt? Not asking you, just a rhetorical question...

Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
Plot twist...dude detonated a bomb inside and had a mini parachute with him...
Imagine him getting into an argument with his dad someday and the father saying, the wrong son died on that plane... yikes.
Jesus, can Air India be any less professional? Yeah, not planning on any vacays to India, not now and not ever...
All joking aside, RIP :(

Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
Captain Steeeve changed his theory after getting ahold of a new clearer video of the crash showing the RAT deploying. RAT (Ram Air Turbine) will automatically deploy if the plane experiences a major electrical failure, hydraulic failure or dual engine failure. The RAT deploying also lines up with the only survivor on the plane hearing a loud bang and the lights flickering. The plane lost power and the RAT took over to provide power and hydraulics, but the RAT is design to help a plane find a landing spot when losing power at cruising altitude. Not 500 feet in the air.

Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
The stories of the people who perished is downright sad. The pilot cared for his dad. Wasn’t married. He planned on retiring soon to take care of his father full time. A passenger was traveling home after honoring his wife’s wishes to spread her ashes. Gone. 2 kids are now without parents. Sheesh.

Re: Plane crash in India, 290 confirmed dead, only one survivor
It's looking as though it was a suicide by one of the pilots.

Both engine fuel cutoff switches were manually shut off, which requires significant effort from the pilots due to safety reasons.
In the recording, one of the pilots asks the other pilot, "Why did you cut off?" With the other pilot denying it.
