Finally there affordable again.
People are starting to realize LeBron is the true GOAT
The new ones Maybe. If you go outside around the kind of people to Wear sneakers for fashion you’re gonna see Jordan’s every day. You just don’t play in them or take walks or anything like that.

People really used to wear Jordan concord 11s in a suit. Smh.
Most overrated shoe ever btw. Patent leather on a sneaker? Yuck.

Why? :oldlol:
Jordan’s graduated to business casual and above long ago. I knew rich people wearing Jordan’s in business settings 20 years ago.

Lets be honest, Jordan shoes are far from business casual. Most Jordans only look good on kids and teenagers, way too boxy for an adult.
I personally only wear the Jordan 3s and low top 1s.... MAYBE the 4s, but they are too boxy. I would feel like a clown walking around with this...

Eventually, people are gonna realize I already own these. Actually, I have them 4x over already.
When you release the same shoes every years what do you expect.

Jordan Brand Revenue Sinks 16% During Nike’s Fiscal Year
The worst-performing Nike segment was the Jordan Brand, where revenue fell 16% for the year to $7.3 billion. Men’s, which represents roughly half the business, and women’s were both down 6%, while kids’ dipped 5%.

Calling the concords overrated lets me know your dresser is really your closet.
I don’t even know if new Jordan’s are being released. Heck no one wore the jumpmans unless you had a shoe deal with them. Retro Jordan’s will always be a thing. They will always cost.

There are hundreds of versions of these shoes over 40 years. Of course you can find something that wouldn’t be appropriate in some situations. But that same variety is why they’re worn in so many situations. Like I said, I’ve known people with money who did significant business for decades who wore Jordans. And it damn sure wasn’t for performance.
You can think it’s whatever you want. The fact remains people have worn it that way with nobody having a problem with it. Places with dress codes will let you in wearing some clean Jordans If the Total look is appropriate.
I’ve heard Yeezy’s are the same, but by the time they blew up I wasn’t in situations to find out.

I know the 11s are considered a top 4 Jordan ever. I actually think the Bred 11s don't look too bad. But the Concord 11s look hideous to me, at least for casual wear. The fact that it's a white shoe only highlights the patent leather even more which makes it look ridiculous for street wear. It was probably fire in the 90's when it got released, but now they just look goofy. They have not aged well
3s are the best Jordans ever. You have some people go with 1s as their choice for GOAT, but they look too much like other Nike shoes from the 80's, didn't really revolutionize the shoe game and nobody really wore 1s in the 90's & 00's. Other people go with the 4s, but the 3s were the real game changers, they were the reason why Jordan shoes really blew up. It was the first shoe to have the jumpman logo and have aged really well with time, unlike the Concord 11s.

1, 3, 4 no order are often often argued as the best Jordan ever. It’s close it comes down to personal preference. 4’s are goated for me. The looks tops them both. 3’s are probably more comfortable.

They are basketball sneakers first. On the court they were they iconic.
Aren't basketball shoes not selling well in general? Them HOKA, On Cloud casual/fashionable jogging shoes are hot right now, I think. They're like a middle ground between running shoes and streetwear.
These numbers are all over the place, last year Jordan Brand was one of Nike's best divisions and the basketball division was performing like shit:
https://www.sportico.com/business/commerce/2024/nike-revenue-jordan-brand-billion-1234785967/
Jordan Brand sales have doubled since 2020 while Nike's Basketball division has declined.
The thing is this year they're releasing a lot of colorways that I don't think people are that crazy about. Aqua 8s and Grape 5s ... I mean those aren't really as iconic as Nike thinks, the Grape 5 is more associated with Will Smith wearing them on Fresh Prince, Jordan never played in that colorway.
It's also freaking expensive in this economy, $200+ for a retro shoe when a lot of people are in trouble trying to pay bills, that's one of the first luxuries that can get cut.
They're not releasing colorways/models that are most popular with the public. Say what you want about things like the Concord or Space Jam 11s ... those would sell out fast, Nike hasn't offered them in like 8-10 years. They have like 8 different colorways to celebrate the XIs this year but they're not releasing any of the OG colorways that people actually want. Like I don't want a freaking purple Air Jordan XI.
Nike is overproducing some shoes and not making enough of other models, like the Air Jordan X Steel released this year but in extremely limited quantities and sold out immediately. Now I know the X isn't the most popular shoe but that was a ridiculously limited run. Also things like the white/red double nickle Xs would sell, but again Nike released that like 10 years ago and isn't releasing them again.
They did release the flu game 12s this year (not my favorite colorway) but those pretty much sold out ... because its an iconic colorway. But French Blue 12s? I get that Kobe wore them briefly, but in this economy how many people got $200+ lying around and must have those. I can do that, but I know a lot of people can't afford that right now.
Who gives a flying **** about shoes except for early 20s and younger? lol
If you aren't buying shoes almost exclusively for physical comfort, you are a dumbass or very young.
You're too worried about your perceived status from others, you aren't a confident person and you aren't pragmatic whatsoever.
Like this year is the Jordan XI's anniversary year, so they're releasing it in a bunch of colorways that no one asked for
Nike smartened up and realized those shoes are trash.
Hate to break it to you but the 11s are and always will be an iconic basketball shoe. Nike still releases a retro of the 11 every Christmas as basically their "big release" of the year because they sell.
They're just not giving people the colorways they want. OG Concord or Bred playoffs (regular cut not low top) or Space Jam XIs would sell out just like the Flu Game 12s sold out.

Pretty much all black men 40 and under care a lot.
Pretty much all black men 40 and under care a lot.
Obviously Jordan's (especially the classic models, meaning 1-14 models) have a lot of sway within the black community, but tons of white kids, asian kids, latino kids also rock Jordans.
Last year was a soft year for Jordan brand sales, but I don't they released a lot of models that I just don't think are that popular, even the "big" holiday sneaker was the Columbia (white/white/blue) XIs ... which are kind of more of a niche shoe, even in 1996 that colorway wasn't that popular.
Release more of the classic shoes in the classic colorways and the sales will be there.
The article doesn't even seem to make sense. The same source that is saying revenue declined by 16% said revenue was up 6% the prior year to 7 billion. But they're also saying revenue was 7.3 billion for 2025 ... but that's an increase over 7 billion.

They hit $7 billion in 2024:

Now it was $7.3 billion for 2025 according to this source.
Maybe there is variance between the fiscal year and calendar year terms but that doesn't indicate a declining brand at all.
Revenue for Jordan brand has more than doubled now since 2020. 3.6 billion to 7.3 billion in 5 years time is incredible growth actually, Nike's general basketball division has declined in that time, almost all sneaker brands are down, Jordan brand is more than double where it was a few years ago.

People don't actually buy Jordan's and other basketball shoes to hoop in. Crazy as that sounds.
Basketball shoes are straight up wack.
The OP wears basketball shoes and bumps dead guys like Jacka.
A WAX beyatch.

if the sneaker industry had to survive off early 20s and younger, it would’ve gone out of business long ago. And it feels like you aren’t considering the existence of women at all. They’re half the population and more than that when it comes to people who care a tremendous amount about individual articles of clothing.
you might as well be asking who cares about shirts…or suit jackets. The answer is always gonna be millions of people. I don’t know what you get out of pretending you don’t know they exist.
Plenty of millionaires walking around with extensive shoe collections.
It’s no more or less valid than collecting anything else. So much of life ****ing sucks. I think I’ve grown out of criticizing people for hobbies that don’t happen to be mine.

Ok re: women fair enough but give some context to the situation. We're talking about Jordans/basketball shoes for style and obviously the major consumers of those are men.
Jordans themselves are probably being purchased by 90% men but I don't have the data for that. Nikes themselves are already 2/3rds men and if you branch off into Jordans specifically I have to believe it's substantially higher.
That being said, you want to compare male shoeheads to women? Go right ahead. It's a fair comparison.
Most women are far more interested in perceived social status than anything else and that echoes what I said about people in general being worried about shoes.
I Having Jordans makes you a sneaker head. Especially when it comes to women. A great number of women I’ve known in life would get sneakers they thought looked cute.
I happened to be in Vegas when Aja Wilson shoe first came out and they were booming.
She plays there, but I see them a couple thousand miles away where I live and I don’t think most of those people care about the WNBA. It’s just a cute article of clothing for most women in my experience.
My girlfriend has Jordans and I swear I’m not 100% sure she would know Michael Jordan if he were at the door. She would know he’s somebody she’s seen before, but I don’t know that she would know who it is.
She goes through life, somehow not recognizing some of the most famous people you can imagine.

The release schedule is kind of stupid too, like they released the Purple "Fresh Prince" 5s like a few weeks before the Fire Red 5s and now they just released like a white/black/pink variant of the 5s too.
This year had both the Flu Game 12s (black/red), but also the French Blue/white 12s (that Kobe wore) and in a month they're releasing the OG Taxi 12s (white/black/gold) ...
Even if you like the Jordan 5s or 12s ... I mean who can afford to buy like 2-3 versions of the same shoe, of course some of them are going to sit.
Same thing with the Jordan 8s, this year has the Aqua 8s but also the white/gray/red Bugs Bunny 8s. You're just splitting the audience for that shoe.
And then there's like 10 versions of the Air Jordan XI coming this fall, but none in any of the OG colorways and most of them in weird colorways like black and neon green with no patent leather (wtf).
People also know there's no point in buying a lot of these shoes day 1 ... you can find them at Foot Locker or the Nike Outlet for 25%-40% off if you wait a few weeks on a lot of models, that doesn't just go for Jordan retros, pretty much any shoe model. Luka's sneakers are easy to get heavily discounted, Zions, Tatums, LeBrons, Morants ... all this stuff you can just wait and get them discounted. The stuff that sells out instantly or very rapidly are things like the Jordan X Steel, which Nike made in extremely low quantities, and things like the Flu Game 12s and Cool Grey 9s sold out, though not instantly.

Nobody even wore Jordan 1s in the 90s and 00s & they look too similar to AF1 which came out before Jordan 1. They re-released in the mid 90's and didn't sell out, nobody really cared for them. The popularity of Jordan 1s came back in the 2010's.
Chuck Taylors came out over 100 years ago and people still wear them today, they are more iconic. In middle school around 2004/2005 me and my friends all wore chucks and were known as the "chuck crew". :lol
I would say Air Force 1 is the most iconic shoe today. People have consistently worn them for over 40 years.
