Epic debut!
VJ wasn't even just one of the best rookies tonight, he was one of the best players in the entire league tonight. Very impressive.
Ace who?
Watching how passive he was at Baylor I couldn't imagine him taking 26 shots in the opener. I would have guessed it would take him 3 games to put up that many shots.
His 14 points in the first quarter of an NBA debut broke Lebron's former record of 12.
“Sixers added another guard? Roffles!”
Jokes on them
Another strange thing about VJ in college is that he struggled finishing at the rim. Given his athleticism that just didn't make sense

Bad hands/dexterity?

He was on PG's podcast over the summer and was talking about how he didn't like playing college ball, didn't like his teams system or how is coach used him and didn't think he could thrive and thought there was more opportunity and his game was more suited to the NBA spacing.
Looks like so far he was right.

Yeah that makes sense. I would watch him and i would be like dude do something lol. He was clearly a top tier athlete but i got more frustrated watching him than any of the other guys.
in the end it doesn't matter because he wasn't an option for us.
Finally, he might be the guy they need to get past over the second round of the postseason.
The sixers should be on it. Now.

Only way sixers get past rd 2 is if Embiid and George perform like they were paid. And if by chance that were to happen the Sixers get smoked in the ECF. I have about as much faith in Sixers as a kid does their dead beat dad. Somehow showing up with a box of pizza gets old.
Another good game by VJ. So much poise this kid has. Really showed his playmaking ability and awareness.
Grimes is hoopin. He trying to get paid this summer. Not mad at him.
VJ vs Orlando

Today might be the first time I've seen vj make a step back 3. I don't think I saw him even try that at Baylor.

Yeah that was crazy. Sixers guards are ballin.
Sixers have the strangest roster ever, some good young players while most of their cap is tied up with 2 guys that don't play.
How does McCain fit into this team?
How does McCain fit into this team?
Stupid question. He fits in fine
Bench scorer?
Sixers have the strangest roster ever, some good young players while most of their cap is tied up with 2 guys that don't play.
I said that before the season started. And when embiid/george are together I want to see what happens to the others. Who concedes, takes a back seat. How long does it take for the chemistry to work. I rather see McCain added. And I know this team without embiid/george are not that good. But I enjoy hungry young talent just hooping like it’s no tomorrow. Embiid still has to get in game shape as he looks slow. And who knows what you’re getting with George. Strange roster indeed.
But I’m loving our guards right now.
Bench scorer?
Clearly. He will come in when Maxey or VJ hit the bench.
Run It Back: Boogie Cousins says it's valid to ask if the 76ers are better without Joel Embiid 😳 "I'm pretty sure the front office is having talks about... closing this door moving forward."

Should jave been as soon as they got the lottery pick. Stuck with george. Time to move forward with maxey and the young guys. Let lakers roll with embiid
Better without embiid today is a stretch. Long term? Yeah you would like to go without him AND George. But you have to question what the Sixers roster would look like post Embiid or even George. Remember the Sixers gave Paul George a massive contract. And they had had instances where they gave our bad deals only to look to get rid of them. So people can say this team should get rid of Embiid and go forward. But with who with what? History has shown Sixers stink when it comes to signing free agents. Might get lucky. Might score again in draft. But Maxey/VJ isn’t making me blind.

Do you really think the Lakers would trade for Embiid? :lol
He's untradable with that contract. Even if they just cut him that doesn't help their cap space. They would still have to pay him and he still counts against the cap.

Someone would probably take embiid. Already tried to dump george
Apparently VJ is the first guard in history to average 25/5/5 through his first 3 games.
No one/contract is untradable. We’ve heard that said so many times only to be debunked by a contract deemed untradable to be moved.

The suns tried hard to trade Beal and failed.
Beal had a no trade clause or they could have
For the Lakers Embiid would be a God-awful trade prospect. They would have to move what, 60 mil in contract? They aren't deep or particularly talented after the two stars, after they make that money match who the hell is left? I think they would sign him as a free agent if he somehow got bought out but any trade would be horrible.
Sarr is on a minutes restriction like embiid. Calf injury from the summer. Tre has back soreness but should play.

Embiids injury history makes moving him more difficult.
I have no doubt that team's have tried to trade guys plenty of times and failed due to the contract but that isn't widely reported. Years ago the CBA had an amnesty clause allowing you to cut a guy and get him off your cap even though you still had to pay him. Pretty sure almost every team used it. We used it on Blatche. Were were still paying him for years after he was out of the NBA.
Embiid is better pkayer. Someone will roll the dice. Suns maybe? 🤣
Just got back from the gym. How TF are we scoring over 70 in a half? We suck.
No d. Everyone is scoring

Eh, teams will still see value in Embiid. Beal only had 3 teams he would play for. Whereas it’s open season for embiid with his injury history. And injury history has never stopped a team from bringing in a player. See sixers and Paul George. Ouch.
I’m not watching game but embiid is playing so I’m going to assume that’s why VJ shots dominated totally. Because I don’t recall wizards adding a defensive stud to lock up guards.

We have some size and it seems like we are forcing vj to drive left which he doesn't want to do. Maybe that is triggering him to go into the passive mode I saw at Baylor.
