Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
What are you talking about?
Of course if Chris Paul will in fact sign an extension with the Clippers, then they could try and trade for him; but I doubt they would land him directly without giving up Eric Gordon.
You don't think Mo Williams, Aminu, Kaman & lottery pick is worth Pau Gasol and Trevor Ariza? You have to be kidding me.
Gasol, Griffin, Ariza & Gordon would become an immediate contender.
The Clippers don't need Pau Gasol. They don't need Pau Gasol to share the ball with Blake on offense. The Clippers already have more than enough scoring near the paint. And Deandre Jordan is a young, good defender who complements Blake perfectly.
Not to mention the Clippers can get a better SF than Trevor Ariza with their trade assets.
You're literally suggesting the Clippers give up their tremendous trade assets to land Pau Gasol, who's not needed, and Trevor Ariza when they could go for Chris Paul or just keep the team the way it is and trade Kaman's expirer + Mo Williams or young projects for an upgrade at SF and have a high draft pick for the stacked 2012 draft.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
Clippers wouldn't do any deal that helps the Lakers get better.
They're not going to go from trying to get CP3 or Dwight to come help them contend in the West, to handing the Lakers NBA Finals for the next 6 years.
Wait, so they wouldn't try and acquire a guy like Pau Gasol because Howard and/or Paul are not interested in signing an extension with them?
I am sure if Howard & Paul came out and said they would love to play for the Clippers; I would have never created that hypothetical scenario.
Clippers would be helping themselves, which would be within their control. Howard or Paul not wanting to sign an extension with the Clippers, is NOT in their control.

Ah, I don't agree at all.
Pau Gasol is a stud in this league. If you can acquire him to improve your team tremendously you do it. I love how you're trying to over-value the assets the Clippers are giving up.
Just two years ago, he was on everyone's top ten list. He is an efficient scorer, great rebounder, good shot blocker and a great play-maker. Most importantly he is very unselfish so I doubt he'd abrupt Griffin's development/touches. Gasol/Griffin alongside Gordon is a dangerous squad, period. I almost spit out my energy drink when I read your rebuttal about "Jordan" being a fine compliment player.
Yeah he's a nice project, but it's not like they're getting rid of him. The different in impact between Pau and Jordan is astonishing. I think many Clipper fans such as yourself would change their minds the minute they see those three on the court together. Pau and Timmy D are the ultimate team-players at the PF/C position.
But we'll agree to disagree, I can tell you despise my trade scenario.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
they are old and slow man..other than bynum everybody is over 30
I would say get some value for Pau now when he has some ....another horrible playoffs and he becomes a burden
Bynum is a knee injury waiting to happen....trade him while other gm's see potential in him
The same could be said about Greg Oden, but Bynum has at least played more games than he has. The Lakers pulled of a coup by getting Gasol in the first place. I don't see them pulling off another one by signing BOTH Howard and Paul. Eventually, they may get one of them, and like I said before, I'd prefer it be Paul. But they're certainly not going to sign both.

If Howard wants to leave Orlando, as I am speculating he does; then what's the difference exactly? (between the two issues)

Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
Pau is also 31 and just played like shit last year. He is closer to a declining player than a peak player.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
ESPN reporting that Clippers are trying for the double whammy like the Lakers to get both of these guys. Sources say Lakers have edge of Dwight wanting to play there... but Clippers have edge with CP3.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
This would be interesting...
If this happens New York is doing this...

You also forget that Pau Gasol is already 31 years old. He's simply not worth it giving up Kaman's expiring contract + Minny 1st round pick.
And Deandre Jordan IS a fine complimentary player. He doesn't need the ball. He just defends and puts left over garbage into the basket.
