Re: 2020/2021? off season
The teams were not specified, though one source said there are two Eastern Conference teams and one from the West who are interested in sign-and-trade scenarios involving Bertans. That is along with at least three teams – the Hawks, Knicks and Suns included – expected to target Bertans early in free agency using their cap room, as NBC Sports Washington previously reported. Though the teams looking at a sign-and-trade are not known, the dots could possibly be connected to those who were interested in Bertans before the trade deadline. That list included the Celtics, Lakers and Nuggets. – via Chase Hughes @ NBC Sports

Get it done Jazz. Bojan for Nance etc. Who says no?
Hopefully the Jazz not only say no, but choke on their own laughter as they slam down the phone.
Re: 2020/2021? off season
Ignoring the reality that the Jazz are almost certainly just going to run it back on the hope that Bojan being healthy, Conley finally finding his footing, and everyone having a year of gelling together under their belts, they really have to face the reality that you need 2 superstars or a team where a guy like Bojan is the fourth best player to win the whole thing. For the small market Jazz, the first option isn’t in play; we don’t have one superstar, so two is a huge stretch. So they have to find a way to make the second option work.
IMO, there’s two ways to do that: one, use Conley’s expiring deal to try to get an All-Star level talent that is eating up cap on a team where that guy doesn’t fit, or trade one of Utah’s current stars in a package deal to try to get that first superstar. Since Mitchell is still on his rookie deal, he’s not the piece to trade and expect equal or better value. That leaves trading Gobert.
Ideally, the Pistons are sold on Christian Wood as their PF of the future, and so they are looking to shed Griffin’s deal ahead of next summer’s sparkling FA class. If that’s the case, maybe Griffin could be acquired for Conley and a pick or a prospect. If the Jazz could swing that, and then use exceptions to pick up another wing and another big, that would be a giant leap forward.
On Gobert, I’m sick of seeing proposed trades where we give him up for complete sh!t. Everyone seems to think he’s done in Utah and the Jazz will offload him for pennies on the dollar. And for the love of everything holy, if I see one more Gobert for Gordon Hayward article...
It is a long shot, but the Jazz should be calling the Sixers to see how badly they want out of Harris’s contract. If the situation with Simmons and Embiid truly isn’t great, and the Sixers REALLY have buyers remorse on Harris, I could see the Sixers doing Gobert, Conley, Niang, and a pick for Embiid and Harris. If the Jazz were then to target guys like Joe Harris or Bertans with the MLE (unlikely, but maybe they take a discount), the Jazz could surround Embiid with a roster of very good to elite shooters.
But all of this is for naught. Conley is a good guy and the Jazz won’t ship him out after one crazy odd year. They need to strike while the iron is hot (i.e. while Mitchell is still on his rookie deal) but they won’t.

I'm sure they will bring them all back. It's the Jazz. Maybe with a new owner there is finally hope they can change though
Griffin makes a lot of sense from an offensive perspective but they need to get better on defense and he can't stay healthy
Simmons makes even less sense with Rudy than with Embiid
Bojan is the guy to move if they can get a PF that makes sense. They need a PF. You have to be able to play big as well as small. Bojan brings little to the table besides his shooting and scoring. Offense isn't their problem!
Re: 2020/2021? off season
If the old adage is true that a rising tide lifts all boats, the recent sale of the small-market Utah Jazz benefits teams large and small across the major leagues. Another adage also applies: The rich get richer – in this case, team owners. And a pandemic that halted live sports eight months ago and roiled the industry hasn’t really affected team prices. The Jazz, along with an arena and a couple of minor-league teams, were sold for $1.6 billion in a deal expected to be approved by the league’s other owners with little debate. Those who specialize in team valuations and sales say the Jazz price falls in line with expectations and doesn’t reflect any pandemic discount.

It goes to show the resiliency and strength of the (NBA),” said Steve Greenberg, managing director of New York City-based boutique investment bank Allen & Co. where he has advised both buyers and sellers of numerous teams.

Michael Rapkoch, who also creates team values for buyers and sellers, agreed. I think this is a positive for smaller market teams, and quite the accomplishment for the NBA. Ten years ago a lot of teams were sold for around $300 million. Now, that price has increased five-fold, despite the ups and downs of the U.S. economy,” said Rapkoch who is president of Addison, Texas-based Sports Value Consulting, LLC. “This is why we have been saying that sports is great for portfolio diversification.”

While fans may not have much interest in a team’s sale price, they are definitely interested in how a new owner runs the team, his or her decision-making and hires. “(The price) does not affect how a Jazz fan feels about his or her team,” Greenberg said. “It’s quality of ownership and if they have the wherewithal to put on a first-class product on the court and run the franchise effectively and well. Does the owner of the team, irrespective of what they paid, have the ability, knowhow and wherewithal to make the right decisions and manage the team properly?”
If Mike Conley opts in to the final year of his deal (super likely), and the Jazz guarantee the salaries of Georges Niang (very likely), Miye Oni (pretty much definitely) and Nigel Williams-Goss (rather more dubious), they’ve already got roughly $118 million committed in salary. And that’s not even counting a new deal for Clarkson … or retaining the likes of intriguing young guys like Juwan Morgan or Rayjon Tucker. They’ll also owe a salary to their first-round draft pick.
when are the guarantee dates on these guys? Niang is before the draft I believe so you probably have to keep him. I'd ideally want to keep the others except probably Goss will have to go. Those guys should be in the mix for the rotation. They can improve the defense without killing the offense. Goodbye Clarkson!
No mention of Brantley who they should sign. He should be in the mix for the rotation. Forman Wright would probably have to be on a two way deal again. You carry 6 rookies on a supposedly contending team you better plan on keeping most of them around or what was the point to begin with? Mudiay I'd welcome back in the same role. Got to think he can do better though
The Jazz left the NBA bubble after their Game 7 loss to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs on Sept. 2. let's not forget the longest off season after their shortest season before the restart and no travel in the bubble
In terms of the financial agreements, the proportionally reduced tax costs could give newly minted Jazz owner Ryan Smith some peace of mind in his first season at the helm. Even if the Jazz were to go over the tax threshold for the 2020-21 season, it most likely wouldn’t be by much, and with revenue expected to dip, Smith would be able to avoid lofty luxury tax costs.

nothing wrong in paying tax as long as it makes sense. It didn't last time and it wouldn't to bring Clarkson back!
Ty-Shon Alexander draws that same criticism that many sleepers do. He is too small. This means he projects as a guard in the NBA, and that raises the question of whether he has the scoring and creating chops to really carve out a role for himself. Alexander showed a tendency to make poor decisions at times in college play. He was turnover prone and had questionable shot selection. NBA teams will wonder if he can improve in those areas, because if he can’t, he could have a hard time finding rotation minutes.
