But you're seeing in real time the negative pushback that Trump is getting, even from his own base. It's the total opposite of what occurred under Biden, where his followers and supporters played dumb for 4 years and ran defense.

I think Trump already signaled that it's a no-go so they're falling in line. I also think the democrats knew full well that nothing was going to come of it so they wisely put this out there to make it look like they care.

There's nothing to "point out". It's obvious that Trump and the republicans are trying to cover this up. We're aware of it, we acknowledge it and we aren't happy about it. As you're seeing. It's also extremely disappointing given what Trump's people campaigned on.
I think anything is possible. I do think it's possible Trump could be mixed in. I also think it could be political. If the files are never unsealed and the names aren't released it will be disappointing sure but it doesn't mean I'm prepared to abandon the MAGA agenda and start picking my pronouns. I know there are people within Trump's campaign who made a huge deal over the Epstein information, and yes I was excited about it, but it wasn't as important as the the economy, the border and combating wokism. And even though it's impossible for me to prove, my gut tells me Trump himself wasn't involved. His behavior and his actions leading up to this would have have been too strange. It doesn't line up. I don't think he ever would have intentionally backed himself into a corner like this.

I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but everyone I've spoken with in real life thought the Epstein list should be released and whoever is on it should be punished accordingly. The dems never promised to release it and Trump RAN on releasing it. Patel even stated himself during Biden's term that the director of the FBI has full access to it and can release it at any time, only to go back on his words now that he's the director of the FBI.

Doing a quick lookup of what made the movie controversial: the movie is based on a book written by a man who did not have the receipts to back up the things he claimed he did. He created a nonprofit of sorts and funneled money to himself, that's about it. The backlash is that if it's all bs and made up under the guise that it's 'based on a true story' it can harm actual organizations that have been battling trafficking for years. Apparently organizations actually combating human/child trafficking have had an influx of volunteers grossly misinformed about its basic realities, and in some cases being resistant to education from actual people while deferring to stuff they “learned” from this movie and other instances of either extremely exceptional cases or straight up conspiracy theories.
