How does Chet Holmgren ever get blocked by anyone? Anyone wondering why Wemby is seen as being so much greater of a talent, those two questions have the same answer. Not saying Holmgren sucks at all but that just shouldn't happen.

He is 2 inches taller than Turner. And he should never get blocked? Ok.

It's all good signs but I feel the championship is going to be won in game 4. The next game is IT!

It's insanely hard to block someone that tall shooting a three without fouling them.

So this is what it feels like to root against haliburton.....its fking misersable. every pass im terrified. every time he touches the ball im terrified someone is going to get a wide open dunk or 3. this shit is awful. i will never disrespect him again
this shit is horrible. ive never felt this helpless rooting against anyone (except the kd warriors and they were a damn team not an indivual) and they play so fking random and fast......its just (exhales). i will never bet against this mf again. after this series.
This shit is so demoralizing losing to this team. How the fk do they win without a star. THIS SHIT IS KILLLING ME!

By a shorter man with a smaller wingspan while he's shooting a jumper? No, he should not. He needs to develop his body to be the kind of great offensive player his length athleticism and shooting skill should make him...but that's just a comment on his general talent level. Specific to the times he was blocked tonight, he should be able to shoot over Turner. Turner is a great shot blocker but we're talking about a 7-footer with a 7'6 wingspan. Only Wemby should be able to mess with him.
Pacers don't turn it over, they shoot well from 3, they are deep, and have one of the best coaches in the league.
Wolves played into OKCs strengths by being a dumb, high turnover team.
The Pacers are a smart team and were red hot for the last part of the season as well, they've been an elite team for several months now.
Based on what we've seen from both teams - this series should be a toss up.
I'll take OKC in 7.

Agreed. Thunder in 7. An exciting matchup of offense and defense.
We're looking good right now. Only 34 turnovers in 2.5 games since the first half of G1. That's a rate of 13.6/g. More importantly, they've won the net turnover battle by +4. OKC feeds off defensive TOs, and they're not getting nearly as many as they'd like.
-
Re: Thunder vs. Pacers NBA Finals Game Thread
Pretty crazy that OKC has led for like 85% of the minutes played but are down 1-2. There still in a decent position to win though. Clearly a better team, but they choked twice. Chet got bodied by Myles Turner. If they win Game 4 though they're a huge favorite again.
-
Re: Thunder vs. Pacers NBA Finals Game Thread
OKC is giving me 2015 Warrior vibes, incredible regular season, MVP, first time in the Finals, and they're underperforming against a less talented team and find themselves down 2-1 in the Finals. Similarly to the Warriors, the stage seems a little too big for them right now, but I feel like the talent disparity isn't nearly as lopsided this time, so they'll have a tougher uphill battle.
Very good chance the winner of Game 4 claims the title.

It's because the Pacers wear them down and play harder for longer. Something they've done the whole playoffs.

This comparison is spot on.
Both were perfectly built as a team which led to a historic regular season
Both young and inexperienced
Both have the league MVP
Both have elite defenses
Both don't have that consistent #2 scorer

Re: Thunder vs. Pacers NBA Finals Game Thread
Mathurin with the massive game off the bench.
49-18 bench scoring for the Pacers in G3.

Even with the Cavs having LeBron, Indy is a tougher opponent. The Cavs outside of LeBron that series were genuinely lottery level, the Pacers for sure have more talent and imo will be a tougher out the rest of the series. Once the Warriors inserted Iggy into the starting lineup and made adjustments, the series wasn't close the rest of the way.

Silver may be the devil and prefer one outcome over another for $ purposes, but Haliburton has surely earned favor of the Basketball Gods for his clean, honest style of play.

The Pacers have figured the Thunder out. Although the Thunder have led most of the way, the games are becoming more "even" with each game.

it's a copy cat league, if the pacers manage to beat OKC, other teams will use them as a blueprint to emulate. team oriented ball with 110% effort over having an mvp guard that hunts for fouls. it's fundamentals vs exploiting offensive rules. that's been the trend for a few years now since the league kept relaxing the offensive rules. what was once a travel isn't a travel anymore and creating contact by launching your body into a defender is an immediate trip to the free throw line (shai).

Not buying this at all. There's going to be 7 different winners in 7 years, all very different teams playing different ways.
The Pacers have struck lightning in a bottle this year, getting hot at the right time and their confidence has increased with every series. I don't think this is a blueprint for anything or starting a trend. It starts and ends this season. They'll be a different winner next season. Likely OKC if they continue to choke this away.

Maybe. or Maybe they have an injury and Boston implodes so the path becomes wide open again. Regardless, they are showing you don't need a superstar/mvp to make the finals.

It's still very rare though, Indy is for sure an outlier in that regard. The only teams that made the Finals without a legitimate "superstar" the last decade were the Celtics & Suns, and the Celtics were stacked with high end talent. I would say 90-95% of the time a team with a top 5 player wins the title.

which shows a trend right? it means, it happening more often than before. why is that? because having a top 5 player doesn't hold the same value it once did unless you're talking about a truly generational player (lebron, jokic, curry). between injuries and how lax the offensive rules are, and the recent influx of overall talent, it's a more level playing field than ever before. i was thinking how booker was once a really good offensive player...now there's quite a few players equally or better than him offensively. the floor has been raised.
